To hate shopping with other people?

Any kind of shopping whether it be food, clothes or household goods is made even more arduous with kids, partners, parents and friends in tow. I make worse decisions too.
The only exception is perhaps car shopping when it helps to have a knowledgable dp.

YANBU except for not including the car. DH knows as much about cars as i do so when I buy a car I go alone, his opinion is irrelevant. I waited a month for delivery of my last new car and he only saw it after i drove it home for the first time.

entertainme · 19/02/2019 22:41

Ah, I've found my people. The car was a joint purchase, so we both test drove several, discussed options etc. But I don't put that much thought into a new top (the difference in price tag may have something to do with it) and I don't usually need help from others to choose something.

Shopping isn't a leisure activity for me though, it's a necessity, and if I enter a shop, I (nearly) always know what I'm looking to buy. Others only slow that process down - I want to get out and do something more interesting!

Christmasfairy07 · 19/02/2019 22:41

It depends with me. Sometimes I really enjoy bimbling around the shops with DH, getting the giggles when he tries hats on etc & buying treats from posh food departments like M & S. Other times I need to be alone so I can focus. I rarely enjoy shopping with DD10 but think that will improve. I miss shopping with DM as she’s not well so can’t really cope with more than an hour or so.

Yanbu I can't shop with anyone.

snitzelvoncrumb · 20/02/2019 00:44

If I had to take my husband and kids shopping I would let us starve. I like shopping with a friend if I don't need anything, I find I end up looking at things for them and run out of time.

Seline · 20/02/2019 00:46

I only like it with my mum but that's because we're best friends and share taste.

Anyone else is a hindrance.

redandyellowandpinkandgreen99 · 20/02/2019 00:51

YANBU. I don't mind tootling around casually with a pal or family member, but if I need to get stuff/do something constructive etc, I prefer to be alone. I find other people a hindrance if I am trying to get something specific. They either rush me when I want to take my time, or they slow me down when I want to do stuff quickly.

CSIblonde · 20/02/2019 02:22

I'm with you OP. I get bored with shopping for anything so quickly & people who like to wander for hours & can't decide what to to buy drive me mad. I had a friend who got upset I 'only' spent 3hours shopping with her. She only wanted a pair of black boots, after 3hours,still hadn't chosen any. I didn't want anything but she got mad when I spied Tesco Metro & nipped in for milk. Online shopping from the sofa with a cup of tea & the cat 'helping' is just bliss.

Oysterbabe · 20/02/2019 02:33

Yanbu. I flatly refuse to shop with my partner, he drives me mad. He takes a million years to make any decisions and then always buys it online anyway.

Parahus · 20/02/2019 02:44

I don't mind shopping with Dh! We always go together but we don't shop that often, once a month to tesco, I might feel differently if it was more frequent!

GlossyTaco · 20/02/2019 02:50

Oh I hate it too. Like others , I don't shop for pleasure , I do my research at home and head out to buy the thing that I need , from the shop that will sell it to me. Then I go home.

I only do this if I can't buy it online for whatever reason. I do my food shop online too actually , popping out for a top up of bread and milk in the middle of the week.

Butteredghost · 20/02/2019 02:53

Yes! Much prefer grocery shopping on my own.

When me and DH were travelling we had a couple of days where we just moseyed around the local shops. I wanted to split up and meet later but he said he wanted to come with me. He spent the whole time following me in silence, walking a few steps behind me and picking up anything that I picked up and put down. It drove me bonkers.

I like shopping with a female friend or my sister, if I don't need to buy anything.

AGHHHH · 20/02/2019 04:49

Yanbu at all.
