To ask if you put bleach in your washing machine

If so, what kind of bleach please? And what brand of washing machine? Any problems I should know about? I've got white cotton towels only they are really dingy. There's nothing wrong with them apart from the fact they've gone grey a bit. Before people come galloping to tell me I shouldn't put colours in the white wash: I don't. Said towels are about 10 years old, but they do not need replacing. I just want them nice and bright again.

Use lingerie or net curtain whitener.

Bleach will rot the seal on your machine with prologued use, and it often turns whites ghastly shade of yellow.

Ecover laundry bleach may help. It's a powder, not liquid. It's sold in waitrose.

Give the towels a wash with a dishwasher tablet to brighten them.

I use bleach in my machine all the time. Sometimes to brighten my whites and then once a fortnight on a boil wash to clean the machine

You can get whitening sachets in the supermarket. Or try Ace gentle bleach as that's designed for laundry
