To be ridiculously happy about my clean oven! (Lighthearted)

I consider myself to be an accomplished person. I have travelled, lived, loved and lost.
I have given birth 3 times
I have survived a very ugly divorce after a 20 year marriage
I have picked myself and my family up and rebuilt us all single handedly
I am well on my way to qualifying as a Solicitor....

But the sheer joy I feel (sadly) sat here looking at my oven, that was so desperately in need of a deep clean, that my friends were sending me numbers of professional oven cleaners, well, it's unrivalled.

I have put if off for so long and will probably not touch it again (for cleaning purposes) for a very long time, but still, the joy!
I am clearly looking for validation from complete strangers on the internet.... Grin I salute all fellow oven owners that are in a similar position, do not despair, you CAN DO THIS!!!!

I need to do this! What did you use? I have a tub of Astonish that I bought with good intentions but couldn’t open so gave up Blush

marvellousnightforamooncup · 19/02/2019 14:29

You lucky thing. Mine's minging!

DM1209 · 19/02/2019 14:29

@LooksLikeImStuckHere, I used Mr Muscle oven spray. It actually worked! Granted I needed to do some scrubbing but it was nowhere near as hard as what I expected it to be.

So shiny.....

@marvellousnightforamooncup, mine was minging too, beyond redemption! It is now perfection. I urge you, make the jump - you won't regret it. Well you will, about 10 minutes in after you've taken everything out, un-screwed the glass front and the panel at the back for the fan, but still, worth it! Grin

We just had ours done about two weeks ago, it was a thing of true beauty. Three days in and DP dropped a pizza cheese side down on the door then flipped it shut as he burnt his hand, whole oven is covered in pizza now.

Aprilshowersarecomingsoon · 19/02/2019 14:31

Sounds like a great excuse for a take away tonight - no way should that oven get dirty any time soon!!

Charles11 · 19/02/2019 14:31

I know that feeling too. I was so happy that oven pride made my oven sparkling clean that I even bought one for my mum and cleaned her oven too.
She, too, was blissfully happy.

Catamaran1 · 19/02/2019 14:33

I'm going to get the Oven Pride out before a french exchange student comes. That oven hasn't seen any detergent for years.

Raera · 19/02/2019 14:33

You need to turn on the interior light so that everyone can see the wonderful shininess!

DM1209 · 19/02/2019 14:34

@tattooq, nooooo the pain! Of the cheese not the burn to the human involved. I feel for you.

@Aprilshowersarecomingsoon, I love that idea! Grin

@Charles11, we are truly 'one.'

Raera we had the oven professionally cleaned after 6 months of living here. It was so bright and shiny Shock Mainly it turns out because the oven cleaner guy had replaced the light bulbs I didn't even know it had Grin

Have you seen the dishwasher tablet oven door trick?

DM1209 · 19/02/2019 14:40

Hmmm, kids want a roast for dinner..... do I dare!?

I'm so glad I'm not the only one that sees the importance of the oven being cleaned! Thank you MN's!!

I discovered my oven cleans itself!!! It heats up to about a million degrees, basically like a tiny crematorium, and burns all the crap off... Even the crap splatters on the door. You just leave it to get hotter than the center of the sun gif 2 hours. It locks automatically until it's cool enough to open and all the shite inside is a little pile of ash you can wipe up.

Behold...

I got mine done professionally, best £60 I have ever spent. It was showroom shiny afterwards. I sat and watched telly and ate biscuits and a wee man cleaned my oven.

themoomoo · 19/02/2019 14:55

toastgirl that's one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen

SpoilsburyToastGirl · 19/02/2019 14:57

I know, right! I keep the picture handy on my phone to help me get in the mood on date nights Wink

KitschBitch · 19/02/2019 15:00

Well done, op, def have a takeaway tonight! Spoilsbury, I have an oven that cleans itself, do you have to take out all the metal stuff first then?

chillpizza · 19/02/2019 15:17

I just did the glass today on mine with the dishwasher tablet I was very happy with the results.

Elphame · 19/02/2019 15:21

How strange - I'm sitting here playing on Mumsnet whilst my own oven is being restored to sparkling clean by the local oven cleaner.

I've bought a liner for the base so it doesn't get so bad again but I'm not sure I'll even want to use it in case it gets dirty again
