Would you eat this bacon?

I have bacon that is in date till the 23rd of Feb but has been open about a week and it's gone a bit dark at the edges near the fat (the fat itself is fine). Smells fine and isn't slimy or anything. Will I die if I eat? I would hate that.

It has just dried out air has got in I would eat it

Shadow01 · 18/02/2019 17:33

As long as it smells fine and isn’t slimy I’d eat it.

anniehm · 18/02/2019 17:34

Yes, would probably eat it if it's dated January! Just cut off dry bits and make sure it smells fine then cook right through

madmumofteens · 18/02/2019 17:36

I would trim off the edges and next time if opened wrap any leftovers tightly in tinfoil before storing in the fridge

Meat starts to decompose as soon as the animal is killed, it's your choice really.

Duchessgummybuns · 18/02/2019 18:46

Sniff test, you’ll know if it’s bad

nanny3 · 18/02/2019 19:20

no bin it just because it smells ok doesnt mean it ok after 3 days it goes out i work with food

Sparklesocks · 18/02/2019 19:21

Bacon is pretty durable, if it smells ok then I would go for it.

Auslander · 18/02/2019 19:22

Cook it, place between two slices of bread with a sauce of your choice and enjoy it 😛

icelollycraving · 18/02/2019 19:23

With most meat I’m very picky about use by dates. Bacon and salami not so much. If it smells and looks ok, I’ll cook it, just not for Ds.

Are you dead? Grin
