to wonder why some posters call out one particular poster.....

I have seen this a few times, some one will start a thread wanting opinions. However sometimes a poster responds who has a different view to the majority another poster will intervene and call out one particular poster for having that view and name them despite other posters putting forward that opinion before the one being called out!

I don't understand why one person would be singled out.
Anyone know why people may do this because I'm really curious.

It depends on the comment. Some posters can be harsh and ruthless, it can ruffle a few feathers.
Any thread in particular.

I'd like to know too. Someone just did this to me on the catcher in the rye thread Hmm

I ignored it rather than buy in to and facilitate their drama.

Sometimes it's to do with that person's post being on the same page that you're replying. Many posts get lost in busy threads.

Thanks for your comments.

The latest one for me was not a particularly long one and was comment 31(ish) where a poster called me out on something which is normally fair enough but I didn't say anything controversial, another poster had made quite a crude comment to the OP yet I get called out!!!

Got to shake it off I guess but it was a wtf moment!!!!

Presumably people want to quote someone and respond (or pick apart) their view. There may be lots of people expressing a similar view but you can't quote and respond to everyone, so one gets picked. (And it may be that there was a word you used in your post that triggers someone).

Unfortunately if the person is quoted in bold then that becomes a focus for other posters who will also copy and paste the quote in bold and respond to it, so the person being quoted quickly feels 'picked on'.

So I don't think the person is doing it on purpose, it just seems that way.

Sometimes people touch a nerve and a poster feels compelled to offer rebuttal. This often grows.
