To be worried about these night sweats

So for the last couple weeks, every couple of nights I keep waking with my legs hot and sweating! It’s not all of me, it’s just my legs. Usually my lower legs ie feet and calves but sometimes up to my thighs. It always coincides with really bad and vivid dreams, and I wake up in like a panic my heart racing. 😥

Google hasn’t reassured me. I can’t find anything for getting hot legs at night but searching for night sweats, comes up with perimenopause or lymphoma !! It can also be caused by other less serious things but because I’m a worrier I’m now stressing 😥😥

I’ve booked a GP appt but it’s not for 2 weeks. Has anyone had anything similar? Reassure me please 😩 in general my anxiety is off the scale atm by the way I am so stressed with stuff it’s unreal.
Also I’m 39 so peri menopause is a possibility I suppose but I’m not ready 😥(still rather that than lymphoma!!)

My dh has terrible night sweats. He has been to the GP who sent him for chest xrays but all clear. Gp seemed to think it was stress related

AhhhHereItGoes · 13/02/2019 21:15

How long have you had them for?
Is severe anxiety common for you?

When I am anxious I get cold sweats/waking up in the morning sweaty.
I also had terrible cold, drenching sweats when breastfeeding the first month or so.

Someone asked about thyroid issues, I’ve just had a thyroid function test as I’ve had a slightly enlarged thyroid gland for years (had scans etc and it’s a benign condition but can affect thyroid function). so gp sends me to have one every so often. But that came back normal as it always does. 🤷‍♀️

I had a better night last night, no hot sweatiness, I was comfortable and cool in my new cotton sheets. So I’m tentatively hoping that might have been it 🤞🏻

And Ahhhereitgoes I had that too just after having each of my children !! I would be absolutely soaked to the skin soaking wet sheets the lot. I’d have to towel myself dry and then change the sheets 😩. It’s been nowhere near that bad thank god!

Mine are all over and I'm older, the dr said perimenoause, don't worry but return if I'm getting too little sleep

I had burning hot feet for a few years before peri properly hit. And palpitations.

Blood tests showed underactive thyroid, very low vitD and low iron.

Now I generally get very hot at night, and am definitely properly peri.

I get night sweats but it's my whole body , I've put it down to a side effect of the medication I'm on . I used to get night sweats when I was pregnant also very bad. My hair would be saturated every morning

Connieston · 14/02/2019 08:47

I had something similar a few years back plus itchy skin and it was a vitamin d deficiency. Blood test definitely a good place to start.

SapphireBattersea · 14/02/2019 14:28

Oh god Member that sounds awful

What medication are you on? I’ve been wondering if mine are down to medication ? I’m currently on sertraline for anxiety (clearly not working too well 😩😆)

I am 37 and this started happening to me a year or so ago. I have noticed that it is around my period it is at its worst and when I am in a deep sleep. When I tell people I think I am in peri-menopause they laugh and say I am too young!

It is always good to get it checked out but it is more likely either hormonal, anxiety related or your sleeping conditions.

With Lymphoma the night sweats are usually really severe. Like getting up during the night to have to change your sheets because they are super drenched and you are soaked all over. They also often happen during the day, not just at night. Mine get quite damp and I get wet, but not to the level my ex husband did when he had lymphoma and of course he had many other worrying symptoms too.

Definitely get checked out for peace of mind.

CottonSock · 14/02/2019 14:58

You are on sertraline? It's that 100%
Was my worst symptom

claybakefan · 14/02/2019 15:26

Could it be the Microgynon?

picklemepopcorn · 14/02/2019 17:39

I had it before sertraline! Sertraline didn't make mine any worse or better.

SapphireBattersea · 15/02/2019 22:05

Update

Since I have put my new cotton bedding on it hasn’t happened so I’m really hoping it was just due to my old bed sheets 🤞🏻🤞🏻
