To want to retrain in something completely different?

I'm 48.

I'm bored of my role. Freelance direct marketing for charities.

It's reasonably interesting. Fits in very well with family routine and demands.

It's very much feast or famine though.

I would like to do something completely and totally different. Don't know what yet but I don't love my role and want to go for it and retrain in something completely different because life is too short.

Aibu and unrealistic?

We get loads of people joining the ambulance service because they wanted to completely retrain and do something completely different. The oldest I know of was in their 60's.

Once you work out what really makes you want to get out of bed in the morning, make a plan and and aim for it. It could be very rewarding and add a new meaning to your life.

Well that's the hard bit. Deciding what.

Some of my interests include:

  • politics
  • languages
  • house design
  • animal welfare
  • cooking because I love food and am bad at cooking!
  • travel

Is there a service that can help one decide?

Presumably you would want to focus on something you can earn a living from?
