To ask for your date night in ideas

... as a film and a takeaway just feel like we're ignoring each other instead of interacting. Small DC so babysitter to go out isn't an option very often!

Have a takeaway/cook dinner together but sit at the table or lay a blanket on the floor for a pic nic while listening to music. Give each other a massage, play a board game, have a shower/bath together.

I guess I wanted something that isn't just chatting and doesn't feel forced...

Board games! You can get great games for two, some are co-op if that's more your speed instead of competing.

What would you do if you went out?

Maybe Cocktail making. Get a book, mark the drinks out of ten.

Or day dates and take the DC with you? Nice walks, art galleries, etc. (Depending on the age of the DC I guess)

We tend to have a nice dinner (I love to cook), bottle of wine, play board games (not the monopoly variety, more like pandemic, eldritch horror, dead of winter etc) , put some music on too. TV doesn't get a look in.

Honestly... Get a nice jigsaw (and a jigsaw mat). And some wine. (And everytime you find a bit that fits you have to kiss ) It's interactive and you have to work together and it's not too mentally challenging to dull conversation.

Love date nights. We would have a chilled night, so probably takeaway. Before food we would get into the bath together, he’ll usually massage the body lotion onto me, sometimes date night will continue on in bed, sometimes we are restrained and will order in food. Usually then we’ll end up snuggled up watching Netflix. Or at least, he’ll watch Netflix and I’ll fall asleep on him.
