I'm a student at a university in the UK. One of our modules is mainly delivered by one academic who is beginning to irritate me.
The main problem is that he is 10 minutes late for every single (50minute long) lecture and is unprepared when he does arrive. This means that he takes another 5 minutes getting ready to start teaching, preparation that could be done beforehand. This could almost be forgiven if he didn't turn up every time with a fresh takeaway coffee from the cafe outside the lecture theatre.

He also refuses to use the microphone in the lecture theatre and mumbles, meaning that we can't hear a lot of what he is saying at the time and the recording software that the uni uses won't pick up what he is saying, meaning that we can't go back and review what we couldn't hear live.

Is it me or is he showing massive contempt for us?

It doesn't sound great. You should have options for feedback (through student representatives, module feedback,staff/student liaison meetings etc). What do other students on the module feel?

Particularly with regard to the being late, if you expecting (and paying for)a certain level of contact and teaching hours then YANBU to be pissed off that you aren't getting them.
