Im decluttering and selling some stuff as need to pay off my credit card asap. A user on Sphock said they were buying one of my items and agreed to buy it. Then it turns out I get a load of messages saying they can't afford to buy it and do i have other items and this for charity that I can give to them. I have already given a load of stuff to charity but aibu for thinking this is extremely cheeky? I'm thinking of reporting them. I now also have to relist my item.

Dont even reply! Ignore it

FourteenCows · 10/02/2019 16:52

Sphock is the CF paradise. Ignore!

Urgh2019 · 10/02/2019 16:58

Not on sphock but I sold a bike on Facebook and the woman turned up and basically told me I should give for free as she had given her DDs last bike away for free.
I made her pay.

werideatdawn · 10/02/2019 17:00

Don't bother replying to them.

Lunde · 10/02/2019 17:00

Don't reply there are many scammer out there that try to get stuff for free by telling sob stories or claiming that they need it for charity

ScrumptiousBears · 10/02/2019 17:07

Stand your ground OP.

I was selling an iPhone a year ago at a very reasonable price and someone tried to bargain with me. I declined saying I'd had lots of interest so don't need to negotiate. He agreed to pay full
price so I gave my address. He then messaged saying he'd come and collect but wants to haggle a bit when he arrives. I told him to do one and how disgusted I was that I already said no, we'd agreed on a price and once he had my home address he tried his luck again. I refused to sell to him.

Obviously ignore. I have hsd nothing but good experiences on Sphock though to be fair. Sold over 50 items.

ShreksAuntie · 10/02/2019 17:12

Just re-list it and put “re-listed due to time waster”. Their bound to see it.

FamilyOfAliens · 10/02/2019 17:13

This sounds like a safety nightmare. Do sellers meet these people at their own homes?

ALongHardWinter · 10/02/2019 17:16

Just ignore them.

SalemShadow · 10/02/2019 17:19

I'm just shocked cos if you agree to pay its supposed to be a contract and then say oh she wanted it for free. I was a bit stunned. Seems I'm not the only one who has had a bad experience!

I prefer 're-listed due to waster'

PigletJohn · 10/02/2019 17:30

speling migtake?

BlueJava · 10/02/2019 17:41

I have also found Sphock to be a nightmare - probably worse than ebay or facebook. The last time I used it to sell 2 items which were advertised as "buy collects" they were bought by someone 200 miles away who then wanted them for free as she had to come on the train to collect them.

SalemShadow · 10/02/2019 19:12

Yes I relisted it due to the time waster. Good grief BlueJava!
