Not wanting to go into details but I’m not techie when it comes to social media so after some techie advice. When I use my what’s app all my contacts old and new appear. My husband (no I wasn’t snooping) has a deleted what’s app msg and claims he doesn’t know the person... the picture shows a woman with kids. Could she have accidentally messaged him? Is this possible? Thanks ladies and sorry if this appears a silly question.

YahBasic thank you that’s really helpful and makes complete sense xx

Very easy to WhatsApp the wrong person. Like everyone says only need to type wrong digit to get someone else.
If it says "message deleted" like other poster said it Sounds like the sender deleted the message. This could be before receiver has even seen it.
WhatsApp now has the handy delete message for everyone. This is great if you're in a group and accidentally send a message to it instead of someone individually Smile
Unless you've got reason to be suspicious I wouldn't think twice in this case Smile

I've accidentally messaged a complete random during a drunken meltdown

wingingitwithkids · 10/02/2019 13:45

Justforareply oh my! Inviting to a birthday party. I had. I idea I am clueless when it comes to tech I only thought I could send from my contacts! X

This message was deleted means the sender deleted it, not your husband, and it needs to be done very quickly after sending, or the ability to do so is disabled,

So yes your husband is be8ng honest.

DishingOutDone · 10/02/2019 13:49

I am the worlds worst, I end up messaging people who I sold a pram to in 2003 and the builder who put the downstairs toilet in - I am literally incapable with what's app. So yes, it is VERY possible to do it by accident.

Mimithemouse · 10/02/2019 13:51

How is it possible to randomly message a number, you have to add them as a contact first to message them?

YahBasic · 10/02/2019 13:53

Mimi, the contact could have been added in wrong. I have also had messages meant for whoever previously held my mobile number before it went back into circulation.

Onlyjoinedforthisthread · 10/02/2019 13:54

If he was hiding something he would have deleted the conversation not just one message.

Mimithemouse · 10/02/2019 13:56

Fair enough but it's harder to do than just texting a random number.

nandaandm · 10/02/2019 14:01

The number has to be saved into contacts before you can send a WhatsApp message. So the sender would have to save the contact details but not the person who received it.

Andtheskyisgrey · 10/02/2019 14:01

My DS gets random WhatsApp messages from unknown numbers. Scams/spams from people guessing numbers or randomly generating them.

People who aren't in my WhatsApp contacts seem to show their name alongside the number. No idea how it all works.

DH has had one today - inviting him to a funeral the other side of the country

Last inane question I promise... would booking.com send confirmation via what’s app? I may be barking up the wrong tree and all that and it’s not a tree I want to discuss at this moment in time but husband said that’s why he was in what’s app because booking.com was sending him confirmation so he was on the app. Before anyone starts on at me for being paranoid or why don’t you trust him etc let’s just say I have very good reason and I don’t have the energy right now to discuss I just need to stick to the facts so I can unpick a very complicated situation... and if booking.com does send confirmation via what’s app well that’s a new one to me

Well, yes. I think we'd agree with you. That's really odd. But would he be that obvious?

Travisandthemonkey · 11/02/2019 23:12

I don’t think so no. But I would call their customer service and check

But if you’re thinking/felling like this, why are you still with someone who treats you with such contempt, or lies to you, or if neither of those are true, someone you don’t trust enough - so you have to come on here and ask these questions

Aquathest · 11/02/2019 23:21

Booking.com does send confirmations of a booking via WhatsApp.

I have just made a booking and this option was offered to me too - first time I had ever noticed this so may be quite a new feature.

Hope you get the situation sorted in your mind soon Thanks

HappydaysArehere · 11/02/2019 23:24

I have recently got into what’s app and the daughter of one of my contacts appeared although I have never contacted her.

wingingitwithkids · 11/02/2019 23:31

If only if it was as easy as that Travissnfthrmonkey...I don’t have any financial fallback have dedicated myself to bring a Sahm after a very successful career, I’m desperate to keep my family together and I’ve come on here for help. Sometimes it’s not as easy as just leaving someone...
