To dye my hair again?

Sorry for posting on AIBU but thought I might get the best response.
I dyed my blonde hair today with a packet dye. Usually get it coloured in a salon but a bit skint and the greys were getting bad! I picked 'golden mahogany light brown' but I really dislike the colour it's turned out. Possibly because of how blonde I was to start with.
If I dye it again tomorrow using a 'dark blonde' or a ' lightest brown' will it go an even stranger colour?

As a long time hairdresser I would advise you not do anything more, it will certainly make it harder to rectify in the long run and will almost certainly go a stranger colour if not damage it further. I’ve seen a lot of home hair nightmares and it ends up costing much more in the long run for the sake of a quick fix.

ive never dyed my hair as im naturally jet black and its down to my waist so to much hassle

but my sister does regularly, she has had a few gone wrong and she has bought something called dye out(i think it was called that)

it lifts the dye off the hair and takes it back to natural color

in my opinion it does damage hair as hers looked awful but i dont know if thats because she dyed it regularly using the live colors then using this dye out product or just damage from constants dying

What colour has it gone? I can't even imagine what 'golden mahogany light brown' would look like!

needhairadvicenow · 07/02/2019 22:23

It's a brownish/red!
It's not horrific like I can't leave the house, just not what I hoped for. It's too red. (My DH has already pointed out that mahogany IS red so what did I expect!).
I wish I'd chosen a light brown instead. Annoying as I have a night out on Saturday!

I think a brown dye would be ok and will take away the red. My hair was very blonde and I decided to colour it back to brown at home. It took two or three times of colouring it at home to get it to the colour I wanted. It ended up a nice shiny brown instead of dry looking highlighted hair.

If you can live with it, I’d just let it fade out naturally then re-dye with something you like in a few weeks’ time.

I’ve had two lots of dye on back-to-back (when a salon screwed up the colour) and it didn’t harm my hair. It probably doesn’t do it any good though!

I'd use a colour remover, and then dye again. I do this every few months swapping between ginger and dark brown and have no problems (other than the smell of the remover lol)
