How long would be reasonable to get this sorted

I purchased something in a shop recently but the card was declined which was weird as I had money in my account however the transaction has definitely gone through since. The shop is saying their tills were fine. I alerted the manager on the day as my bank couldn't understand why it was declined either and I wanted reassurance if the funds were to be taken I'd have some sort of reference as I wasn't given one at the till. I've now spoken to a different manager who didn't even know of the manager I spoke to a few days ago. AIBU to ask you what the next course of action should be? It's not that big a store either. I don't want to leave it too long to be sorted either.

You can request a chargeback via your bank if no goods were purchased. www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/advice/how-do-i-use-chargeback

I'm not in the UK. The bank said they can open an investigation but it will take a while.
