Monday I started having pain around my lungs and my chest was sore when I was breathing deep.
The chest soreness went but the ache around my lung and top back has got so bad.
I can't move for it aching.
I can hardly stand up straight as it aches so bad.
If I touch a certain part of my top back it really hurts.
I can't bend down to even put my socks on.
This morning I went to the primary care walk in centre and it took me longer to check in than the time the nurse seen me.
I was in less than two minutes.
She took my temperature and my oxygen levels and said it will be muscular.
She didn't even look or touch my back,no x ray or nothing.
Told me take paracetamol and that's it.
Aibu to think she could have at least examined me?
Told me if it's not better go to the doctors next week.
The place was empty only one person waiting so hardly rushed off her feet.

Yes, you should have.
Your lungs should have been listened to by a nurse practitioner or by GP, at the minimum.
Book to see GP.

Racecardriver · 02/02/2019 14:46

Well that sounds particularly awful.

snowdaynewc · 02/02/2019 15:01

I thought she would have listened to my chest and back.
Didn't want to tell her how to do her job tho so just left.
Still no further forward
Painkillers aren't touching it.

Appalling (but this is mumsnet, you’re supposed to be incredibly grateful for the NHS and marvel that you saw a practitioner and didn’t have to pay. In other countries you’d be dead by now didn’t you know).

TinselAndKnickers · 02/02/2019 15:07

I feel you OP! I am very grateful for the NHS and all the lovely people, but the other day I was taken to hospital in an ambulance after calling 111 - then I was left in a waiting room for 11 hours, 3 hours after I asked for painkillers only then was I given some Sad it's sad to see the resources being stretched this much and I fear for the future Sad

snowdaynewc · 02/02/2019 15:08

@TinselAndKnickers ah no that's awful
Hope your on the mend now

I'll get there thank you! Hope you can see a GP fast and feel better Thanks

I had exactly the same thing happen a few years ago. Later transpired to be pleurisy that then became pneumonia. It was left so long that it had a long term effect on both my physical and mental health. I’m not diagnosing you with pleurisy by the way, but please go back to a medical professional ASAP if you’re not feeling better in the next few hours/days.

snowdaynewc · 02/02/2019 15:19

@DoneLikeAKipper ah that's terrible
Hope your a lot better now
I'm going to go to my GP on Monday hopefully if they have any apt's

Last night felt awful.
Bad head and coughing up lots of phlegm with streaks of blood in.
Slept about 12 hours straight.
Woke up and thankfully my back /lung feels a lot better.
Safe to say it's deffo not a muscle.

TheCanyon · 03/02/2019 09:31

Please get checked again. I had awful pain in my chest on a sat night/into sunday morning. Then it disappeared, i had a mild cough so assumed it was just muscular. On the wednesday night it came back ten times worse, i could barely breathe for the pain. I was admitted with pneumonia and a collapsed lung.

MrMeeseekscando · 03/02/2019 12:41

I've had the "It's muscular" with a "please fuck off now" look.
I was very brave for once and fired back a
"You're very dismissive"
She freaked out at that and actually went through her findings with me, a bit of reassurance is all it takes sometimes.
Compassion and kindness is often lacking these days. That can't be put down to funding, that's just being an asshole.

You need to go back op, especially if you're coughing up blood. Someone needs to examine you properly!
