I've been signed off work for a month. I'm not well and my mental health has suffered
really badly. I'm not sure what to do or where to turn to.

I feel like I need a break and want to run away to somewhere, even if it's for a few days?

I'd have to take my boy with me who's 8.

Any suggestions where? Abroad or UK based.

I always find Cornwall (the North Coast) give me a really positive mental boost. There is something about the sea air that just makes everything feel better. Especially this time of year when it's much quieter.

What's your budget? What kid of things are you looking to do? Quite, lazy break, lots of activities with ds?

I'll second Cornwall. Lovely countryside and beaches, and milder than the rest of the UK (mostly).

Will you get permission to take him out of school?

TBH I'd go to the Canaries for a few days

What about a farm stay? There's lots of choice across the UK for all budgets and for an 8 year old it's an exciting time of the year with baby animals starting to appear. Some of them may even let you help out. I always find reconnecting with nature a helpful healing process xx
