Sad news today that Jeremy Hardy has died of cancer at the age of 57.

I didn’t always agree with his political perspective, but he was never dull.
Sharp, shrewd, humane, couldn’t carry a tune in a bucket & was a good sport on BBC R4 News Quiz. I will miss his contribution to current debates - incisive & narksome.
Alas, getting to a ‘life stage ‘ when the public figures/idols/darlings of my youth are dying off.
I was shocked by both David Bowie & David Cassidy’s deaths even though there was some intimation that there were not in the best of health. Not shocked that they were so ill for are we not mortal, but that they could die. Somehow they seemed immortal.
