Taking inspiration from the holidays thread. I will be a bridesmaid next year and thinking (prematurely!) about the hen do. I was just wondering what the best hen do you've been to was like, and the worst!

Best: a weekend in magaluf- child free and it was amazing! I had the best time!

Worst: a cottage with a bunch of girls I didn't know. It was the most boring 2 days of my life!

Best: Filthy pub crawl in Blackpool, night club, stripper, squirty cream, matching T-shirts, random snog, kebab.

Worst: Afternoon tea including the Mums. Boring.

Worst was when hen was plied with shots early in the evening and fell asleep in restaurant. Evening ended with about 4 of us in a really dodgy club, with a bottle of vodka and some warm lemonade. It was shit.

Best was one that I am proud to say I arranged for my friend. We did a cocktail making class, then went for dinner, then to a club. We are all aged 35-55 and had the best time. Mine was also fun, we had tea and games at mine, then dinner out then a bar. Another friend's was lovely as we went to the river cottage for lunch and they let us help in the actual kitchen. The best ones I think are where everyone gets on and no one is massively out of their comfort zone.

I know! She totally denied it the next morning. I felt terrible sitting through the wedding whilst they made their vows. It felt so false. We lost touch shortly after but often wonder if they are still together.

Best was a big manor house in the country with hot tubs we hired via air bnb. We spent the weekend drinking Prosecco and eating pizza, lounging in the hot tubs, organised our own cocktail making and did a murder mystery. It was great fun, but very relaxed and low cost. There were about 10 of us and everyone had a fab time.

The worst was one I helped organise. The bride was very high maintenance and despite getting a gorgeous house in a trendy city she had a face like a smacked arse all weekend. Nothing was good enough - none of the expensive activities, none of the food and drink, nothing. She moaned that the stairs in the house were too steep (it was a cute Victorian cottage but a grade II listed building so not much that could be done), she moaned that the walk between the restaurant we had dinner in and the cocktail class venue (about a 7 min walk) were too far in her heels, she also complained that the queue at the bar was too long when we out for drinks (it was Saturday night in a city..). The best part of the whole weekend was when myself and the fellow organisers were setting up the house, we hung decorations, put music on and had a good giggle - it was great before the bride arrived! Thankfully we are no longer friends.

Worst one, was being guilt-tripped into spending ££££ on the 4-day-weekend-abroad then not even getting an invite to the wedding.

Worst...cottages in a seaside town...all shit faced by 2pm...put in house with ex wife.oh had to rescue me & 2 ladies when one hen went binky as we escaped for lunch for the afternoon.after making breakfast for everyone..just coming to terms with all the shite.
Best was mine 2 sisters & niece..basic pub food club type...never laughed so much.

@squashedgrape EXACTLY my experience!!

Best was a ramshackle affair. Bride had a disappointing actual hen as most people were travelling to wedding so couldn’t come to hen do (20 years ago so lower expectations).
So we organised one two days before wedding, takeaway, drinks, house party. Stag do joined us at 2am. Awesome stupid night.

Worst was one where me and friend turned up at close friends hen. In restaurant, no one spoke (expect person next to them if knew them), no one was introduced. People just didn’t drink, prob because of zero atmosphere. Food was expensive and awful. Bride never spoke to us or anyone but her MOH.
Went onto noisy bar, meant to be a pub crawl. Girls all stood in separate groups eyeing each other. Spend hours debating when we could leave.
Wedding followed and it was very similar.

Best: a friend had hers at bistro live, lots of dancing and laughter. The group of people we had definitely made the night.

Worst: a river cruise, rubbish food considering what we'd paid, rubbish music, nowhere to dance and no atmosphere. We spent a lot if time looking longingly over at the other boat with half naked waiters
