If you tuck your children into bed or watch an ill child? I typically surf the internet but I am starting to e really bored by it.

What do you mean by tucking in or watching an ill child.

Tucking in only takes a minute or two.

If you mean watching them falling asleep, well, you aren't if you're on the Internet. If you have to be in the same room until they're asleep then I get some work done (emails) or read my Kindle or listen to a podcast if the light of the screen would be an issue.

What do you mean by I typically lay next to them and surf the internet on my cell phone until they are asleep. Could read a kindle, yes, but actually I do not enjoy reading very much.

I would not lie next to them like that at all, tbh, but if you're going to do it, why do you need to stay awake? If they need you, they'll wake you.

Flyingfish2019 · 01/02/2019 00:58

Typically I want to stay awake because there is something I want to do in the evening after they are asleep. When they are ill I sometimes feel I should stay awake and watch them. My maternal instinct so to speak.

I've got a poorly DC in my bed. I can't sleep as I'm worried :(

PP who said they'll wake you, good point, I feel better about nodding off now

I can’t read Kindle or use iPhone because of the light so I take socks off to be cold — less chance to fall asleep.

Ladybirdbookworm · 01/02/2019 01:07

I know what you mean ...its hard to stay awake when they are drifting off especially when they are poorly and you want to keep a check on them but you are exhausted. I would say don't read a book because that can make you drowsy. Look at your phone, watch TV with subtitles, do some online shopping or just lay your head down and cuddle in and sleep alongside them.

Flyingfish2019 · 01/02/2019 01:17

Socks off, maybe that’s an idea... dh has insomnia and like to sleep with two pairs of socks because that makes it better. I’ll try if it works the other way... but I hate cold feet.

Reddits sub - Let's Not Meet. Just don't blame me when you can't sleep for the rest of the week Grin
