To ask you about face creams

So the weather has turned cold and to add to this I have a cold (which always makes my skin worse!!). I've just got it, cleaned face and applied a face cream Aldi Lacura. This is normally enough for me but my forehead is so sore, it's got bright red patches all over it and the skin is broken in places. I'm hardly out in the cold got long (couple 20-30 min dog walks per day). but I look like I've been out for hours.

Anyone else suffer and what do you use?

TIA

Aveeno daily moisturiser and/or neutrogenia hydroboost

Fatasfook · 31/01/2019 00:19

Placemarking as I was about to post the very same question. My face looks like I’ve been deep fried

Charlie97 · 31/01/2019 00:20

Not trued either of those, do you use both or one or other? Thank you

La Roche Posay Cicaplast.

I love Nivea cream. It's in a blue metal pot. If you get it, make sure you get the one made in Germany, not Mexico or the US.

Returning2thesceneofthecrime · 31/01/2019 04:37

Either Nivea or Avon Anew. I have very sensitive skin and those are the only ones I can tolerate. Very different products though.

See if you can get a sample of elemis pro collagen moisturizer and the yellow cleanser. Put the cleanser on as a mask for 10mins before rinsing and put the moisturizer on. Calms my rosacea down when I have flare ups from the cold weather. It's -19C tonight and was terribly windy when I was walking home.

Want2bSupermum · 31/01/2019 04:47

Don't buy the elemis stuff until you know it works. The samples they give me at the counter or from phoning their customer care line are free.

Weleda white mallow face cream. It leaves a slight sheen but really protects from the cold

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 31/01/2019 05:05

I really like LRP cicaplast for sore skin, and Eucerin urea face cream for extra protection on cold days.

Last year in all the snow I broke out in psoriasis for the first time ever. All over my face. It was triggered by dry skin from heating and air con then going out in the cold. Anyway took 6 months to clear and now it's cold again am taking extra care. I use epaderm which is like Vaseline to protect red areas before going out and at night. Rest of the time I use body shop hemp heavy duty moisturiser and lots of it. Good luck

Isleepinahedgefund · 31/01/2019 05:44

Second vote for the Body Shop Hemp heavy duty cream. My skin is feeling dry in this cold too, I'm off to buy another pot at lunch time as just used up my last one

When your skin is irritated and chapped I think it's best to avoid all the fancy creams like Elemis etc and go for something bog standard and simple that just works. Put away your Lacura and anything fancy you use to cleanse. Also these products aren't expensive. If you need a cleanser try cerave which is gentle and moisturising.
