I got back my pregnancy blood test last week and it was negative however, it's been nearly 3 months now and still no period! Also, I have some of the symptoms such as rapid weight gain, enlarged breasts, constipation, frequent urination, exhaustion, bloating and occasional nausea in the mornings. They're doing a test for everything else to see if I could be sick or have some kind of condition but, I can't stop feeling pregnant. I know that sometimes cryptic pregnancy occurs when you're stressed so the fetus doesn't produce the pregnancy hormone until later into the pregnancy and I have been quiet stressed which honestly could be the cause of my missed periods. I feel like I'm going crazy. I'm 16 and this has never happened to me before. I should get my results soon but, it would be reassuring to know if anyone else went through this and was or was not pregnant in the end!

Yes, it's in your head.

It's amazing how our bodies can react when we convince ourselves that something is true.

Chickychoccyegg · 27/01/2019 19:16

more than likely in your head, but luckily with all your tests you should hopefully find out soon whats going on.

dementedpixie · 27/01/2019 19:17

PCOS? When did you have unprotected sex?

AllSuits · 27/01/2019 19:17

If your progesterone is high, that can mimic a great deal of symptoms.

If there's no pregnancy hormone in your system, you can't be pregnant.

Good luck finding out what's going on Flowers

ItsMEhooray · 27/01/2019 19:19

'. I know that sometimes cryptic pregnancy occurs when you're stressed so the fetus doesn't produce the pregnancy hormone until later into the pregnancy'

I don't think it does really Confused Sorry OP but if you really think you are pregnant you can get a scan done privately to see what's happening in there.

EarthboundMisfit · 27/01/2019 19:20

I have absolutely convinced myself I am pregnant a number of times.

Ladyoftheloch · 27/01/2019 19:20

I know it’s not the point of the thread but at 16 you shouldn’t be having unprotected sex, so if that’s what happened (rather than a contraception failure) please speak to your GP about finding a method that works for you.

ReaganSomerset · 27/01/2019 19:21

Phantom pregnancy? If you can afford it, get a private scan to prove it to yourself.

Lampshadylady · 27/01/2019 19:21

If your body wasn’t producing the pregnancy hormone you wouldn’t be getting the symptoms you describe which are caused by it. There’s also not really any such thing as cryptic pregnancy. And when experts talk about stress affecting hormones it’s ‘being in a war’ type stress - and even then it’s incredibly rare.

So, yes, it’s in your head....

AnoukSpirit · 27/01/2019 19:23

Our minds don't operate independently of our bodies, and our bodies don't operate independently of our minds, so even if your symptoms were stress related it wouldn't make them any less real.

Either way, you're not crazy.

OnlyATeen · 27/01/2019 19:30

the stress that I'm having is from a court case about my sexual abuse which was why I was worried, It's pretty severe stress but I'm totally aware it could just be my head. Thanks for your input! :)

Sometimes it just feels that way I guess haha. Thank you :)

I think after this blood test they might do me an ultrasound. I'm more just worried that it could be something serious, thanks for your input :)

OnlyATeen · 27/01/2019 19:33

@Ladyoftheloch I was scheduled to have my implant put in right after they started doing test to see whats wrong, I didn't get it because of everything but I'll be sure to after I find out! :)

rytonsister · 27/01/2019 19:35

How old are you op? It says 16 in the op - if that's eighth what on earth are you doing??

OnlyATeen · 27/01/2019 19:35

@ItsMEhooray It was just something I read up about haha I didn't know if it was true or not I just thought it might be worth saying just incase, and tbh my doctor did mention it to me since my stress is so severe, but It could also be my stress thats delaying my periods which would be definitely possible. Thank you :)

@dementedpixie I think my doctor is looking into pcos also, thank you for the website link tho, I'll read up on it a bit more :)

YesitsJacqueline · 27/01/2019 19:37

I'm having more pregnancy symptoms than when I was actually pregnant, everything you mention above. But I am 43 so in my case probably the menopause! I'm definitely not pregnant, maybe you have a hormone inbalance? See your gp

OnlyATeen · 27/01/2019 19:38

@AllSuits They didnt tell me that they found no hormone just that it was under the level that gets a positive. Thanks for the good wishes :)

OP posts:
HavelockVetinari · 27/01/2019 19:38

PPs are right that it's most likely in your head, but I have heard of one MNer who never got a positive test all through her pregnancy, the doctors were initially baffled but said it does happen INCREDIBLY rarely. An ultrasound would at least rule this out and give you peace of mind.

OnlyATeen · 27/01/2019 19:39

@dementedpixie I forgot to add it before, I had unprotected sex a couple of weeks before my period was due and a few times again at about new years, honestly I wish I hadn't haha the stress has been eating me alive. :)

OP posts:
OnlyATeen · 27/01/2019 19:41

@HavelockVetinari I think I'll ask them to do an ultrasound just so my mind is at rest. My doctor said they might do one anyway just incase there is something wrong with my reproductive system or they do sense some kind of problem, thanks for the reply :)

OP posts:
HavelockVetinari · 27/01/2019 19:44

Best of luck with it all whatever happens. You should be so proud of yourself for standing up against sexual abuse, particularly at such a very young age. Well done, warrior woman. Flowers

OnlyATeen · 27/01/2019 19:44

@rytonsister Yes I am 16. I'm not trying to get pregnant or anything its just that sometimes I get caught up in the moment and don't think about the consequences. I'm planning on getting my implant after all the tests have been done and everything has been confirmed
