3.5 year old DD has recently changed pre-school (same area) as previous one closed
We went to see 2 new ones and picked one
Initially everything was great but yesterday she complained that the teachers were hitting the children. She changed her story many times from hitting her, to hitting the babies, to it being one teacher and the other teacher telling the hitting teacher off, to both teachers hitting the babies
We are really unsure how to proceed. We were super concerned at first but now the story has changed it does all sound a bit unlikely.

Obviously thee are no marks on her (she did come home with a tiny cut on her face last week now I think about it but really looked like a graze & was gone within a day or so & this sort of thing can happen playing outside. School didn't mention it at pick up
I really want to believe DD, I also don't want to go in all guns blazing throwing accusations around, not sure how to pick up
DD has expressed an interest in the other preschool we looked at at the time which we did prefer (but was further away & a lot more money). She is not normally manipulative but I know everyone looks at their children through rose tinted glasses
I really don't know how to proceed - don't want to overeact but don't want her to be upset either

Why do you want to believe her? If there's no evidence of the hitting and her story is changing I would say she's probably misinterpreted something that happened yesterday at the pre-school.

For example a child (perhaps even your daughter) may have hit a member of staff, and has been told off for this behaviour.

The part about babies is confusing though, as surely in a pre-school there aren't any babies, other than dolls?

I don't want to think that DD is making things up as she hasn't done it before AFAIK. And if something has happened I don't want to ignore it and then expose her to it again. It just seems decreasingly likely as the story changed but she is still adamant that children were being hit

By babies she means the younger totddlers who can't talk, we have a 20 month old who can only say single wordsand she refers to him as a baby
