38 weeks today my labour has been induced because my baby is measuring small.

Had the propess inserted at 11am this is my 2nd baby I have a a 2 and a half year old daughter who was also induced at 39 weeks.

Scared to death my last experience of induction was awful! Please can people talk to me? Share your stories or make me laugh.

I'm a fairly regular poster but I've namechanged.

Bless you. I just this morning got booked in for an induction in two weeks and imagine I’ll be feeling the same as you that day.

If it helps I had a good chat with my consultant who said once you’ve had one vaginal delivery the second should be much easier, whether that one is induced or not. She said inductions of second babies usually run pretty smoothly, obviously depending on how early and what the individual circumstances are of course. And you know much better what to expect and can be more confident in your needs and decisions.

I heard a good tip if you’re worried that if you get to the drip you can insist that they site an epidural before they start the drip, a bit of an insurance policy if it all goes hard and fast.

I really hope you have a better time of it and just think, very soon you’ll be holding a lovely squidgy new baby in your arms Smile

Good luck

My second induction was brilliant!

Pessary in on the Friday morning. Chilled all day.

Woke up Saturday at 6am, went to the loo, waters went, so they checked me - I was 6cm dilated! Straight down to the labour suite. All I needed was gas and air, my body was in control of everything, two really solid pushes and DD was born.

Genuinely, if I could experience it again I would. Absolutely different to my first horrific induction.

Good luck!

I've been induced twice. 2nd was much better 😀

Went in at 7am, OB broke my waters at 8am, walked around a lot to appease the midwives who were convinced labour would start, drip started at half 11, baby at 3.30pm 🙂

Hope all is ok. Keep us updated!

comedycentral · 23/01/2019 20:16

My second was induced. It was so quick in the end. I properly got going at midnight and had him at 2am ish! On ward by 6 and home by lunch time. My first was a totally different tale!

Holding your hand. Just keep breathing though those contractions, your almost there x

Emma145 · 23/01/2019 20:22

Good luck! I was induced at 37 weeks had the pessary at 3pm and son was born at 1pm the next day. My waters broke on there own at 12pm. Went from 3cm to him here in under an hour so was very quick in the end! Had an episiotomy as baby's heart rate went a little low so wanted to get him out quick but once he was out he was fine and i healed up with no issues.

Fingers crossed everything goes okay for you.

cadburyegg · 23/01/2019 20:35

Good luck OP! I was also induced with my second. Had a great experience. It was a bit slow to get going, had the 2 pessaries, had some pains, had a nap, then pains stopped. Walked around, came back to the ward, had a sweep, went for a coffee, came back to the ward, more pains, waters broke at 6.30pm, baby born at 7.17pm.

ImAChaiseLongueGetMeOutOfHere · 23/01/2019 20:39

Good luck op! I was induced with my second at 3pm, hot bath, birth ball bounced for a bit, paced a lot, in the pool at 8pm and baby at 9pm,just gas and air. You can do it!

Smileyaxolotl1 · 23/01/2019 20:41

Induced with both babies.
Both quick labours and did the second one with only paracetamol as the nurse argued that I couldnt be ready to push that fast and found I was 10cm dilated already.
My birth experiences are so much better than my friends who went into labour naturally. Good luck! X

Jamhandprints · 23/01/2019 20:43

Good luck op.

noSh1tSherlock · 23/01/2019 21:42

I was induced for 2 of mine. Managed both with just gas and air. Was 2-3cm so waters broken then drip started. Once it got going had babies in 6hours and 5hours. Good luck! You can do this.

SeaToSki · 23/01/2019 21:43

Induced for all 4 of mine. Each one was easier than the last. The body really does remember what to do. Maybe you are like me - a really crap starter, but a great finisher!

Pippiphooray · 23/01/2019 21:51

Induced with both of mine for post dates. Quick and intense-but managed with gas and air, discharged less than 6 hours later. Heard lots of horror stories about induction, but trust your body-try and relax, it does tend to know what to do once it gets started!

aibutohavethisusername · 23/01/2019 21:53

Good luck Flowers

Louiselouie0890 · 23/01/2019 21:59

My second was miles better. My body did what it did after the pessary so I didn't need the drip. My second was definitely better. First one was awful.

3becomes42019 · 23/01/2019 22:34
