to think the hawks are after me?

Back in the UK to visit family (I currently work abroad).
Family live countryside-ish, but nowhere particularly remote.
Hawks have been seen in the area, but are pretty damn rare.
I'm not a bird person, but it is interesting to see one because, as I say, you don't see them too often.

In the last 24 hours I have seen 12.
TWELVE.
All in different places, spanning about a 20 mile radius.
They are always looking at me. [paranoid]

I'm struggling to come up with a reasonable explanation for the influx of hawk. We see perhaps one a year. Has someone, perhaps, released the hawks? As a conservation effort, for example? Or a bizarre twist on releasing the hounds, or a gothic wedding in place of doves?

Finding the hawks a bit creepy. AIBU to be suspicious?

I have not been on the gin.
