Debt write of on energy bill

Posting here for traffic..

I wrote a complaint to npower about a cashback offer that I didn't receive. I have had an email saying £85.00 (cashback amount) has been credited to my account as 'debt write-off'.

Surely it being labelled as debt write-off is a bad Mark against my name? Or has anyone had this before and been fine?

I don't think debt towards gas electric can give you bad credit. It won't go against you.

@cabbage78 thank you

@cabbage78 just to add I'm not actually in debt, I'm up to date. I was promised cash back when signing up for the deal and they declined it so I do complained and they added the equivalent cashback amount to my account.

I worked there for several years. This is nothing to worry about at all. When you get your next bill, you will see the price of the elec/gas you have used. That is your "debt". Underneath that, it will say Credit - 85.00 and on the next line it will give you the discounted amount you need to pay.

I know the word "debt" is scary but in this instance, it means absolutely nothing.
