But for every reason! We all have a song that just gets to you, mine is Joni Mitchell's 'Both sides now' m.youtube.com/watch?v=aCnf46boC3I
So bitter sweet, reminds me of really sad times and really, really happy times too. What are your bitter sweet songs?

The Scientist by Coldplay. I don’t know if I like it but it makes me sob.
I had to leave a shop once when it came on.

Johnny Cash’s Hurt kills me.

Thisonewilldo · 18/01/2019 22:14

Taylor Swifts 'Never Grow Up' makes me bawl.

Also her song Ronan but the whole reason for that song is just so sad anyway.

Megthehen · 18/01/2019 22:15

Slipping through my fingers - YY, Streets of London- YY and Honey (Bobby Goldsboro) are all understandable and subject matters that are emotive - they all make me cry.

Beyond the Blue Horizon, on the other hand is meant to be a happy song about the future and opportunities - and it makes me sob like a baby. I've always liked the song, but when a good friend died in a car accident I was listening to the song quite by chance and suddenly I interpreted as my friend being beyond the blue horizon and the 'beautiful day' was heaven/afterlife and I think I realised I would never see him again. From that point on the song for me is linked with loved ones dying. Now when I hear the song I think about my mum. I still love the song but, by god, it crushes my to listen to it (my mum died 10 years ago and my friend 14
years)

MawkishTwaddle · 18/01/2019 22:17

In the living years, Mike & the mechanics. I'm very lucky to have both my parents still but it makes me think of what it will be like to one day lose them. Beautiful song though.
