But for every reason! We all have a song that just gets to you, mine is Joni Mitchell's 'Both sides now' m.youtube.com/watch?v=aCnf46boC3I
So bitter sweet, reminds me of really sad times and really, really happy times too. What are your bitter sweet songs?

And this one

RoboticSealpup · 18/01/2019 22:24

Johnny Cash's cover of Nick Cave's the Mercy Seat. Sad I make the mistake of listening to it on the tube once and people around me must've thought something really bad had happened as I could hardly hold back the tears. (In my defense, I'm pregnant...)

Bury Me Naked by Merry Hell.

I've requested this is played at my funeral. The lyrics are beautiful and uplifting in equal measures.

Tiredemma · 18/01/2019 22:26

Labelled with Love by Squeeze

PhannyMcNee · 18/01/2019 22:28

Chasing Cars - I have to turn it off if it comes on the radio.

Craftycorvid · 18/01/2019 22:30

An embarrassing admission here, but for some reason ‘Fields of Gold’ does it every time - worse: Sting’s version Blush For the poignant reason we have lost her beautiful voice forever, hearing Kirsty McColl singing ‘Fairytale of New York’ sets me off as well - ‘You took my dreams from me...’ ah!

Shouldbeasleep1 · 18/01/2019 22:30

'Wires' by Athlete. Oh my.

Power of love - Frankie goes to Hollywood.

I always cry when it comes on the radio, it’s a permanent sobfest in my car at Christmas time

Shouldbeasleep1 · 18/01/2019 22:34

Well, there is a reason: it's heartbreaking but beautiful.

pintsizedblondie · 18/01/2019 22:42

Supermarket Flowers by Ed Sheeran. I just can't listen to it anymore!

bluetit101 · 18/01/2019 22:43

Luther Vandross - So Amazing.

Reminds me of the car journeys we made on a Sunday to visit my lovely nan and grandad when I was a child. My dad would play the same cassette in the car every week and that song just brings back so many memories.

My lovely nan passed away in 1999 and my lovely grandad went 6 months later from a broken heart.

The song makes me sad but also brings back nice memories I have of them.

Somethingjustlikethis · 18/01/2019 22:43

Slipping Through My Fingers (I have only heard this ONCE on the radio and I was a mess! Not brave enough to listen again on purpose)

Always on My Mind, Willy Nelson or Elvis

Never Enough from the Greatest Showman.

Also Wings by Birdy - something about it makes me think of my mum.

Helium by Sia.

Parliament Hill Fields by The Lilac Time. Played it a lot in dh's car when I was driving it back and forth to hospital when my Dad was dying. "How time flies, so sick of goodbyes, I wish that I could stay" oh and I'm gone again
