But for every reason! We all have a song that just gets to you, mine is Joni Mitchell's 'Both sides now' m.youtube.com/watch?v=aCnf46boC3I
So bitter sweet, reminds me of really sad times and really, really happy times too. What are your bitter sweet songs?

Coldplay - Adventure of a lifetime, no idea why.

I was going to say Tears in Heaven by Eric Clapton as that does make me weepy then I read someone else's comment of Supermarket Flowers by Ed Sheeran.

My mum is still with me thank goodness but my god that song makes me blub about what's to come in the future.

Knocking*

Pemba · 19/01/2019 04:28

But MrsCatE the Nine Inch Nails version of 'Hurt' was the original, released in 1994. Then Johnny Cash covered it in 2002.

AlliKaneErikson · 19/01/2019 04:37

I forgot ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’. I’m as far from a Liverpool fan as you can get, but it always brings a tear.

DianaT1969 · 19/01/2019 05:53

Thanks for these. So many great songs, it motivated me to create a long spotify playlist for when I want to wallow..

Azula · 19/01/2019 06:13

Tom Waits - Grapefruit Moon

Mum2OneTeen · 19/01/2019 06:42

Happy by Pharrell Williams (?)

whereiwanttobe · 19/01/2019 06:49

REM's Everybody Hurts. I had a call from my brother to say my lovely dad wasn't going to make it several days after surgery, and as I set off to the hospital it came on the car radio. He died later that day.

UserThenLotsOfNumbers · 19/01/2019 07:04

These are the days of our lives by Queen. Especially when watching the video. A clearly very ill and dying Freddie Mercury whispering "I still love you" at the end. Absolutely unbearable.

Lozz22 · 19/01/2019 07:10

@AngelontopoftheTree That song has me sobbing my heart out every time I watch 'the Christmas shoes'

MissionItsPossible · 19/01/2019 07:48

‘Home’ from A Very Harry Potter Musical Blush

‘When a Man Loves a Woman’ - Doesn’t make me upset now but as a child I used to cry at this song because it seemed to always come on the radio on Sunday and I knew school was tomorrow Confused

‘Don’t Speak’ by No Doubt gets me a bit depending on my mood when I hear it.

‘To the Brink’ by I am Kloot. This is a really sad song for me that I was introduced to when it was featured in a really sad documentary I watched about the youngest woman to be banned from every single pub in the UK for alcoholism and anti social behaviour.

D.I.V.O.R.C.E. by Dolly Parton. This is a sad song anyway so I think that one is rational, never been divorced myself but parents are.

MissionItsPossible · 19/01/2019 08:08

^^ ‘Home’ is actually in A Very Potter Sequel, not the original lol

HoobleDooble · 19/01/2019 09:03

Forever Autumn and Tears in Heaven both leave me in a soggy heap.

Bacciferous · 19/01/2019 11:36

Another vote for Vincent
Also, Do You Realize by The Flaming Lips
and The Fields of Athenry 😭

CowesTwo · 19/01/2019 11:58

It doesn’t take much to set me off. But these ones definitely:
Slipping Through My Fingers
The Winner Takes It All
Always On my Mind
One Day I’ll Fly Away
When I was Mary’s Prayer
Baby Mine
The Little Boy That Santa Claus Forgot.
..... far too many ...

BooksAreMyOnlyFriends · 19/01/2019 12:38

God I'm welling up just reading these 😭

Madonna - This used to be my playground
Johnny Logan - Hold me now
Roxette - It must have been love

Polarbearflavour · 19/01/2019 13:08

Another vote for Jimmy Eat World’s Hear You Me😭
The Beatles - Golden Slumbers
Muppet Christmas Carol - Bless Us All

Michael Buble - Home. This reminds me of when I was cabin crew.
“Another aerorplane
Another sunny place
I'm lucky I know
But I want to go home
I've got to go home”

Awrighttreacle · 19/01/2019 13:54

Agree on 'Feed the Birds' Mary Poppins

Any accoustic version of 'Stand by me'

Awrighttreacle · 19/01/2019 13:57

... also 'Oh Fortuna'. There's a clip of a massive live concert of singers performing this. It cuts to the audience occasionally, and right at the end it shows one lady comforting her teary friend. I always wonder whether this song might have been her and her late husband's favourite song which made her emotional (completely made up story in my head but make me blub like a baby)

Polarbearflavour · 19/01/2019 14:07

Carole King - Child of Mine
