I'm anti-monarchy but a huge Suits fan (sorry not sorry!) and am fuming at how much I'm following them now! She really is a breath of fresh air.

She seems like a perfectly nice women in whom I have very little interest. I think all pregnant women need to be treated with kindness though.

If you’re a republican, OP, it really doesn’t matter to you whether a new member of the anachronism that is the royal family makes a perfectly ordinary response to a mildly tactless remark — the institution itself is rotten. And that right there should be the default position for anyone who has no interest in nor respect of the Monarchy - and it matters not a jot to me what anyone's position is on this. There is no need to go beyond this point. As others have said it shows Ariadne up as the very epitome of the slur she has chucked at Meghan Markle.

No, I'm no more interested in maintaining the monarchy than I ever was. The identities and personalities of the monarchy are irrelevant to the concept of republic and missing the point spectacularly.

I couldn't give a flying fuck if George Clooney or Hugh Jackman married into the RF, I still would campaign for their abolition.

It's the idea of an hereditary monarchy that is abhorrent. It's 2019 - the concept of someone being in such a position of wealth and power because of an accident of birth is an anachronistic nonsense.

I apologise, I'd just been on the thread about things that annoy you and the use of myself really pisses me off.

I think Meghan, Duchess of Sussex is the breath of fresh air that the Royal Family needed. She's gorgeous and she and Prince Harry seem to be very happy together.
Her career will stand her in good stead when it comes to the media obsession she comes across as very relaxed and not at all fazed by the constant media scrutiny

The whole point of being a republican is that it’s the institution of the monarchy you object to, not the individuals who happen to populate it at any one moment. Because the whole point of the monarchy is that it being hereditary means you can get anyone as King/Queen — from a playboy Nazi sympathiser to a dutiful nonentity to a petulant whiner who’s spent the last fifty years cutting ribbons at the opening of municipal swimming pools and to brazenly influence ministerial opinion. You don’t get to choose.

Lol at the 'working mother' in respect of either of them. They have all the domestic help they could dream of and their diaries are hardly busy. Meghan stayed at one place today for a whole 35 minutes. It takes me longer to get ready for work

I don't know either of them so no idea if either of them are wonderful or terrible - they both very willingly married into the RF so my sympathy for both of them re living in the public eye is sorely tempered by this fact.

You're right - her 'work' isn't remotely comparable with anything recognisable as work at all.
