Would shutters work in this bay window?

i'm thinking of shutters with horizontal slats for this bay window, but as the radiator has vertical panels, I'm wondering if it will look a bit mis-matched. What do you think?

DB has the same kind of bay with a radiator underneath and horizontal wooden blinds work very well in his house.

What a beautiful window! Shutters would be quite stripey with the radiator! I have shutters on several windows in my home and I'm actually thinking of removing them. They are such a pain in the arse to keep clean and dusted. What about grommetted curtains on a curved rod? They would be so easy to pull open or shut. It's a tough choice!

The top up bottom down cellular shades are really nice, too. When up or down, they are very trim and unobtrusive.

We have a similar window and radiator with shutters and it hadn’t even occurred to me that there might be any mismatch with horizontal or vertical lines! Looks all fine to me! 🙂

Yes, we have shutters in out bay window and I love them.

Ohnonotuagain · 14/01/2019 15:21

Yes, they'd look great.

We have shutters on our bay. They can be a pain to dust, but they do look nice when they're clean.

A good alternative would be 'day and night' blinds. They're double layered roller blinds, one half voile and the other regular roller blind. We have these at our kitchen windows and, depending on how they are rolled you can either block view/light or have some visibility through.

We have shutters in our bay windows and have radiators beneath. But if you're very worried about the horizontal/vertical it will be off set by the vertical "handle" things on each shutter?
