To leave DH at home?

DH has his gallbladder removed on Friday. He needed my help moving about yesterday, still in bed this morning. Want to pop out. No one else at home. Is that okay? Or will he wake up needing my help to get up again?

Depends how long you will be gone for.
If you can help him to the loo and leave him a drink, food and painkillers within reach I would think that would be ok for an hour or so, as long as your Dh is happy.

Was it keyhole or open?

I had keyhole a few weeks ago and was moving about fine after it, so I'd say go

ArdentGold · 13/01/2019 11:46

It was keyhole

I’d wait until he was awake, make sure he has everything he needs and then pop out for a little

YouTheCat · 13/01/2019 11:48

He needs to start doing stuff for himself. If it was keyhole with no complications then he should be fine.

When I had mine out (keyhole) I don't recall needing help to move, but I wasn't supposed to lift anything for a week. Maybe just make sure he has what he needs at hand?

StatisticallyChallenged · 13/01/2019 12:54

Yeah I was told to take it easy and to ideally make sure I had someone with me for the first 24 hours (post anaesthetic dopiness.) I had a 5 week old breastfed baby at the time so was up and getting on with things very quickly. I didn't need any help to move either

He'll still be suffering with phrenic nerve pain (the shoulder tip pain and feeling like trapped wind) mine took 2 weeks to go.

He'll be fine though, doesn't need to be in bed - he needs to be up and about!. After having a general he needs to get back to normal life (but without heavy lifting for 12 weeks.) And deffo doesn't need help to move 🙄 it's 12 staples and some dressings. He just needs to pop some otc painkillers.
