To consider having my ears pinned back as an adult

My ears have always been extremely prominent and I’ve worn my hair long to cover them my entire life. I’m in my late thirties now and I’m tired of feeling so self conscious. Has anyone had this surgery as an adult and been pleased with the results?

I feel a bit silly thinking of having this done, like I should be happy with myself at nearly 40, but I don’t. I want to wear my hair back and feel confident, but DH thinks my ears are fine as they are.

Do it op.
I have my appointment for braces in a fortnight at 47.
Imo do what you want to feel comfortable in your own skin.

ABSOLUTELY do this!! It will make you feel so much better about yourself and it is a VERY common and simple procedure. Ignore your husband and book the appointment. You will be so happy you did!

@Aprilshowerswontbelong

My grandmother got braces when she was 54 in 1978. She never regretted it and was over the moon with the results. Good for you!

Bless him and of course he does, but if you aren’t happy with them OP, do it. Look, the worst that happens is you don’t love them and keep keeping your hair down*!

*that isnt going to happen!!!!!

Yeah sure why not? You are not even halfway through your life!

Hi, not me but both my sisters have had this done as in their 30s and it’s been a big improvement for their self esteem and convenience being able to wear their hair up/ have short hair. You wouldn’t know they’d had surgery either. I think you should do it. I spent €3k getting my crooked teeth fixed (veneers and crowns) and wish I had done it years earlier I feel so much better.

Slightly different - I had one wonky ear after forceps delivery as a baby. Had it pinned back as a teenager. Totally brilliant - looks fab and I felt (and still feel) more confident. If you wear glasses though, try and avoid ones with big hooks - as they can rub!

And I am not being funny, but don't stop yourself from doing do ANYTHING, just because your husband thinks you look OK. It's nothing to do with him. It's how YOU feel that matters.
