Have NC incase she's on here.

I have a colleague who regularly complains to me about our boss. We are on the same level. She is a working mum with two DS's in primary school, and is always moaning about the boss not granting her special requests because he's a man nd 'doesn't understand'.

Except as far as I can see, they do. The rest of us are not allowed flexible working whatsoever, yet she is allowed to come to work after taking her DS's to school. They also let her cut her hours so she only works 3.5 days a week, and work at home every Monday. She is granted short notice leave if needed too.

As far as I know, most workplaces wouldn't be this accomodating. It's starting to get on my nerves, I know looking after DC is hard work, but she already gets things the rest of us don't and imo arrangements she has are as rare as hen's teeth and many parents would kill for this.

I asked her what more she wants, she said she wants to be able to come and go as she pleases without being tied to set hours, and make up her hours when she can. That's just not possible in our line of work, and it annoys me she thinks she should be entitled to this when the rest of us are not even allowed to go to a dr appointment during our contracted hours.

Tell her if she really thinks her boss is so bad, go and get a job elsewhere. See how easy it is to get that level of flexibility

Well, it’s not uncommon to rearrange your working hours after DC, and I don’t think it’s unreasonable to ask.

But it’s unreasonable to moan about not getting what you want, and v v v v unreasonable to moan about your employer putting actual work ahead of your lifestyle.
