I have been married four years - all is going well. However, I hate my wedding photos so much. There is so much wrong with them and at first I thought all brides feel a little like this when they first see them, but today when I looked at a friend's photos I saw a bunch I had not seen before and it just reminded me how shit I looked, for the following reasons:

  1. I have conjunctivitis - everyone else is made up and I look plain and like I have been crying bucket loads
  2. i have had a stupid, stupid hair cut that doesn't suit me
  3. I am in small heels for comfort, but I am small. All the other women are in high heels. I look tiny and dumpy. Everyone else looks lovely, especially dh so it is purely a selfish thing. Why can't I get over this?! 😕

Do you still have your dress? If you do just book a session either at local photographers or outside the church? Have a new set taken however you want. Or renew your vows/ blessing or holiday/ blessing in sunshine with appropriate photos.

Oh OP, please be kind to yourself.

What would you say to your best friend I they felt like this? You wouldn’t be this harsh on them xx

Put them away?

When's your 5th wedding anniversary? Treat yourself to a set of professional photos, renew your vows if you want to make it formal, get your hair and make-up done and sparkle.

Alternatively, wedding photos are just a snapshot of ONE day. I'm an old gimmer, got married in the 80's with a meringue dress and Farrah Fawcett waves in my hair - I look terrible. DH isn't much better with his porn star moustache and wide lapel shiny suit.
My photos are something for the DC to giggle over.
We've been married for 35 years though, and shit photos don't mean a shit marriage.
