To ask if you've had your house repointed?

How much did you have done and how much did it cost? The survey has come back on my (hopefully) new house with damp - caused by knackered in some areas, and poorly done in other areas pointing.

Also the chimney stack needs repointing, flashing and flaunching.

Am I about to have to withdrawn my offer on my potential new home because it's going to cost me both kidneys an arm and a leg?

Our house has concrete rendering. We found a builder who has chipped it all off and re-rendered. He's also going to repaint it all. Total cost £3,000. Found him on Check-A-Trade, and he's doing a brilliant job. It's taken a bit longer than anticipated, because of all the rain we've had.

sueelleker That is useful information for me. I have something like pebble dash and that is in a bad way. I was worried about the cost but something of the order of £3000 is not quite the heart attack level I was worrying about
Thank you for that info

We had the front of ours repointed, with lime mortar. It came in at around £500 if i remember correctly.

Terraced house and only the front was done £750 about 5 years ago. Think we had to get some scaffolding. That’s London.

Thanks :) ours is exposed brick so hopefully not so much 😟
