To give up wearing heels?

likablum · 07/01/2019 19:41

For work anyway?? I have been off for two weeks racing round after the kids in trainers and wellies. Back to work today and wore heels and tonight my legs are so sore and aching. I felt like this before the hols and thought I was ill but perhaps it's just the heels?? I honestly feel like buying some flats for work and never wearing heels again. I'm only 35, but I can't cope anymore!!

I never wear them, instruments of torture.

Well give them up then! I have never understood why women feel they have to or should wear heels.

LegoPiecesEverywhere · 07/01/2019 19:44

Yanbu as pp poster says why is only women who wear heals

ShinyMe · 07/01/2019 19:44

I can't wear heels any more, and I can't wear a lot of fashion style flat shoes either these days. I've had all sorts of ankle problems that are just getting worse, and now I can only really wear sensible lace up shoes with squishy soles and orthotic insoles. I have some Sketchers, some Fitflops and some DMs. Don't get old!

amusedbush · 07/01/2019 19:44

I never wear heels because I just find them so uncomfortable!

Sausages18 · 07/01/2019 19:45

Gave them up a few years back. Best thing I ever did.

HermioneWeasley · 07/01/2019 19:46

Gave up mine a few years ago and have never felt the need to return. I’m not trying to impress anyone with my fashion sense or amazing legs so I opt for practicality and comfort

Fantata · 07/01/2019 19:46

I don't wear heels. I do keep some in the office for big meetings even though I hate myself for it.

Magmatic80 · 07/01/2019 19:46

I never wear heels. Laminate floor in large open plan office, too noisy!

DanielRicciardosSmile · 07/01/2019 19:47

I haven't been able to wear heels since being pregnant years ago. I used to wear real skyscrapers, 4-5 inches, but now anything over an inch and a half causes me real pain.

tubspreciousthings · 07/01/2019 19:51

Not worn heels since first pregnancy and unlikely to ever again. Comfort is worry more than style when it comes to footwear

tubspreciousthings · 07/01/2019 19:52

*comfort is more important than style

SexNotJenga · 07/01/2019 19:52

You're in fashion, OP. Sales of heels have been falling for a few years now. Stilettos are starting to look old fashioned. Same as push-up bras.

lidoshuffle · 07/01/2019 19:53

I discovered the joys of Dr Martens this weekend; no going back.

Clionba · 07/01/2019 19:54

Never ever wear heels, even at formal events!!

Santaclarita · 07/01/2019 19:54

I gave up as a teenager. Wore heels a few times and got sick of the pain after 5 mins.

thedevilinablackdress · 07/01/2019 19:55

YANBU
Heels are ridiculous IMO

Lottapianos · 07/01/2019 19:56

I ditched heels a few years ago. I desperately wanted to be Carrie Bradshaw with a fabulous shoe collection but just couldn't take the pain any longer! Now I don't own a single pair of heels and haven't worn any for at least 5 years. My feet thank me every day! Go for it

Hushnownobodycares · 07/01/2019 19:57

Haven't worn heels for years. Sorry I ever did TBH. They didn't do my toes any favours and caused a massive ganglion on the back of one heel which had to be dealt with surgically. Go for it, OP.

Lottapianos · 07/01/2019 19:57

Look at the EnBrogue blog for flat shoe inspiration and style ideas

SerenDippitty · 07/01/2019 20:00

Haven’t worn them for ages. I have arthritis in my knees now and can’t walk in them anyway.

Clionba · 07/01/2019 20:20

It seems crazy to wear shoes that hobble you and can be very damaging.

Jaffacakebeast · 07/01/2019 20:23

The Only flat shoes I have are flip flops and cat boots, I hate not having heels on. I’m only 5ft 2 tho. What ever makes you happy I say

lilyheather1 · 07/01/2019 20:26

I haven't worn heels in 4 years and honestly, it's been amazing.

Klobluchar · 07/01/2019 20:29

Comfortable shoes don’t necessarily lead to a happy life but uncomfortable shoes definitely lead to a miserable one.

Free your feet and the rest will follow!
