To not be ready to finish Christmas

I love the lights, we still have lots of chocolate and cheese and Christmas TV to watch. We've just come back from town almost everything is gone, it's bloody miserable and cold out there and the kids go back to school on Tuesday. I'm not ready to leave my little festive bubble just yet. Aibu to leave everything up for another week or two? We even put stuff up early this year (8th Dec).

12 nights after Christmas or you go to hell.

FestiveFruitloop · 05/01/2019 01:14

I'm feeling exactly the same, and I'm leaving mine up for at least another couple of weeks, even though I normally take the decs down on the 6th. I posted something similar a few days ago and quite a few people responded saying they were leaving theirs up for a while yet. Your house, your rules! :-)

I took my tree down but the lights are staying!

curlykaren · 05/01/2019 01:17

I've been moaning constantly the last few days that I really don't want to loose the Christmas tree. It looks and smells lovely this year. I usually take it down on the first of Jan but can't be parted from it just yet 😕

We have loads of lights. I spend the morning stomping around upstairs moaning at the kids for leaving their bedroom lights on, then come downstairs and switch on 12 sets of lights (some are battery) - the 4 sets outside have a timer switch. You can see then from miles away, I bloody love it.

I went to hell years ago lol, always come down New Years Day.

calmsealife · 05/01/2019 01:21

My tree and decorations came down Boxing Day!

Leeds2 · 05/01/2019 01:24

My DD has taken the baubles off the tree today, but it is still up, completely bare. I quite like it! I will be taking it to recycling when I get back from visiting family on Tuesday.
Hoping to persuade DD to perform a similar miracle with my Christmas Village scene!

Mudmonster · 05/01/2019 01:28

I took everything down last Sunday, it was in the way and I was bored of it all. Not being able to open the curtains because the tree was in the way and the kids eating so much chocolate and sweets they practically had cavities.
My dc went back to school this morning so Christmas is officially dead to me till next December.

BeMoreKind · 05/01/2019 01:38

I've eaten nearly all the food but I don't want to take my tree down yet. It's so pretty. Nothing to do with Christmas, I'm so over that, it's just my tree is so pretty!

Here you go, and Easter eggs are already on sale in the shops. You’re welcome Grin

I enjoyed Christmas with my family, but I am glad to be getting back to normal now. I took the tree and all other decs down before New Year and was relieved to get the living room space back.

Soggiemoggie · 05/01/2019 01:51

Tree and decorations still up. I'm sitting downstairs right now eating a mince pie with a hot cuppa. Battling a cold again. Left DH upstairs with 8 month old DS who is unsettled as he also has a cold. I need another mince pie nowBlush Grin

Don't worry, only 354 days to go 🤩

Topseyt · 05/01/2019 02:01

I think Christmas should be every couple of years at most. I am almost certainly a Grinch.

vodkaredbullgirl · 05/01/2019 02:10

I might scrap xmas this year lol, the fun has gone out of it with adult kids.

MaverickSnoopy · 05/01/2019 02:39

Ours are coming down Sunday but I understand how you feel. Thinking of keeping the fairy lights and Christmas candles.

Will be looking forward to the space though.
