Phone/social media addiction...

Is anyone else here addicted to their phone or social media? Or had been addicted, how did you overcome it?

When I'm not busy I find I'm picking it up every few minutes and looking at the same shite that I saw a few minutes prior. Reading posts about people that I don't really care about. Advert after advert. People who are #blesses #livingtheirbestlife #makingmemories... Sometimes I just pick it up, unlock it, look at it and put it back down.

I hate it. I want to be more productive with my time. I want to be more 'in the moment'. I want to spend more time with my children and less time fixated to this stupid over priced piece of crap.

Please don't suggest 'just don't use it' or 'just put it down'. I've tried..

Yes, me. It's terrible.

Get rid of the apps from your phone. I do that every now and then.

heather1 · 04/01/2019 13:59

Yes me. I find leaving it in a different room really helps. Or worse case take the sim out. I need to get a handle on it this year

Get a crappy old phone for emergencies and leave your other one at home. Or do 'no social media' January

Me. Mumsnet. Can't step away. And I'm a grownup and know stuff about how bad it is for you. Poor children don't have this knowledge and experience. One of my pals barely sleeps and her teenage daughter has all sorts of behavioural problems - but she will not limit her or her daughter's phone use, even as a experiment for a short while. It's very sad

Oh this is me with bells on

No advice unfortunately but following for the same reasons as you..

Ineedtonamechangenow · 04/01/2019 14:07

This is me. I'm so unproductive it's awful.

I have an app that measures my usage and it's awful, just awful.

DontCallMeCharlotte · 04/01/2019 14:08

Yep. Hours every day. And it's pretty much just MN. And I'm not even a Mum!!

I have no problem when I'm out of the house or when people are around but there's so much more I could be doing with my time (not least working Confused)
