I need to move house to be closer to family, I currently private rent and claim UC while working part time. I have a viewing on a property tomorrow so what are the next steps?

I have a deposit I can pay tomorrow if they need it but I cant pay rent for two properties in one month. If I tell them I want it tomorrow I can hand my notice in my current property meaning I'd officially stop paying rent on the 3rd of Feb (have double checked this already with current LL) so ideally I would pay the deposit tomorrow to hold the property but not pay my first months rent until the 3rd of Feb. Is this a thing I can do? I have Googled and googled but can't get any answers so was hoping to hear from people who have done it already.

Depends on your ll. I did one month as a deposit and first month up front. Quite frankly very hard.

Depends on your new landlord. They might could tenants leaving on Monday 7th or 31st Jan iyswim.

Property I'm viewing is currently empty and has been for a few months if that makes a difference?

when my DP and i moved in together we left a holding deposit (£200) for the house we wanted to rent and then told them we had to give one months notice to our respective rentals and to be quite honest the paperwork tenant references etc took most of that month and we then paid the rent up front and deposit when we went to pick up the keys the day we moved in

ours was empty when we went to look too
