To get fed up with so much inefficiency?

This is by way of a general rant! It seems to me like everything is so inefficient!

Examples:

I applied for reduced hours on return to work after mat leave in September. September! This was finally confirmed in November. And I still haven't received anything in writing with my new salary on it. I go back in a month! This is also preventing me doing other things including applying for a mortgage. Before you ask, I work for a very very large organisation with a large HR function, not a small one.

Another one: my son is due to start nursery in a month. I paid a deposit in October, had a confirmation of the place and not a dicky bird since.

Is it me just expecting too much?!!! Hmm

Won't your salary still be the same, just pro-rata'd for fewer hours?

Salaries are usually referred to as the full time figure, pro-rata, rather than the actual part time amount received.

You can easily work that out yourself. Full time salary times part time hours divided by full time hours.

PP: According to mortgage broker that isn't enough for the application Confused
Shouldn't my employer have sent me something by now anyway though?

What do you need from the nursery?

ShalomJackie · 02/01/2019 18:00

You have had your confirmation of your nursery place. In a couple of weeks time I would anticipate a call about a home visit or nursery visit but wouldn't expect it before then.

With the Christmas break now out of the way why not just email HR and ask the specific question of what will my pro-rata ed salary be?

CastleCrasher · 02/01/2019 18:02

Have you asked your employer? Ours generally doesn't send anything beyond the confirmation that the application has been approved.
What do you want the nursery to send you I'd they've already confirmed the place?

Employer - have chased three times before Christmas because I'm urgently trying to make a mortgage application. Hoping something in the post.

Nursery- I had sort of expected by now to have some more info about sickness policies, what I need to bring in for DC by way of clothes etc, and tbh when they are expecting him for settling? He's supposed to be starting on 4th Feb. Isn't a couple of weeks time a bit late or is that normal? They did say they would be in touch by Christmas...

I agree OP there is a frightening amount of inefficiencies in the UK generally. Everything involves people making mistakes, not knowing all the facts, being over optimistic, using systems badly. It's one of my pet moans. Why are people so incapable?!
