Nocturnal teen

My son (13) since breaking up for Christmas has been up all night watching you tube and playing on his X Box then sleeping all day.

This is really annoying his dad - but it's pretty typical of teens to do this in the holidays isn't it?

IABU to let him sleep all day or should I be making him get up during the day?

I'm sure my DS (12) is doing something similar, although the console is passwords and his phone is blocked at 11pm. I don't know what he's up to but he's sleeping until gone midday. I've not managed to catch him out yet.

I did similar at his age though, watched many inapproriate late night movies (18 certs) and was very good at not waking my DParents, so I'm guessing it's a teenage thing.

Normal for teenagers. They're designed that way.

I think it’s a teenage thing!
Although I suppose he needs to get back on his normal schedule a few days before school starts so it’s not a shock getting up early again.

yeah, I agree it's a teen thing!

I thought I was clever switching off the WiFi only to find he was using his phones hotspot!!

Mine sneaks down to watch his stuff on tv he's recorded or even just reads.... but he made toast at 3am which woke me up so I caught him out

Mine are older (16, 18 and 20). It's definitely a teen thing. As long as they're not disturbing me after my 9pm bedtime 😂 they get left to it.
