To ask here about now tv - especially Game of Thrones

So I'm fed up of paying £40 for sky per month and there is hardly anything to watch on there!

I'm seriously considering getting rid of it and getting now tv instead. The main reason I don't want to get rid is because of game of thrones!

So I just wanted a general idea of how now tv works and if GOT will be on at the same Time as it is on sky? Also if you can download the series whenever you want like on Netflix? And anything else I need to know about now tv

Time to cut my bills done this year I think Smile

I have a now tv account but it's only active during GOT. I can watch each new episode at the same time it's on in the US so I can actually watch it before my friends who have sky. Occasionally I'd watch it at 6am depending on my baby which was awesome because I'd be ahead of the dick who'd post spoilers on Facebook. Love now tv

Huntawaymama · 02/01/2019 10:59

But no you can't download the series anytime. They usually put all the seasons on at the same time as the new one but they're not on forever

Honeyroar · 02/01/2019 11:02

I love Now TV too. We got it for GOT as well.

bsc · 02/01/2019 11:05

Now TV is owned by sky too.
If you assay to sky you're leaving, they'll offer you a cheaper package most likely.

seriouslylong · 02/01/2019 11:16

Ok so you can watch GOT at the same time as US and can you watch it like on demand kinda thing so when it's on tv and could watch it say that day or even a couple of days later?

I know sky will offer a cheaper package but it's not going to be cheaper than now tv which I think is £7.99 for the entertainment package which is all I would need!

£40 for sky is crazy and I barely watch it now I have Netflix

But it seems to be such a hard decision to make to get rid of sky I don't know why

We have amazon and Netflix got is on amazon so you can just buy either the whole season or episode depending on what you want to do.

I've actually not used now TV I will find out more information about this lol

WineCheeseSleep · 02/01/2019 11:20

Yes you can watch it on Demand later that day or week. I'm not sure how long episodes are available for, maybe a month? It's great, definitely recommend for GOT.

I have now tv and have had it for years .. we get the entertainment pass for TWD then cancel it until it’s on again . Saves a fortune compared to sky . I just set it up using an unused bank account then transfer my money over that month if I want to continue with movies or entertainment. If I don’t then I don’t purchase again until needed .. it has everything sky has as it’s through sky just a hell of a lot cheaper

seriouslylong · 02/01/2019 11:25

Ok great I'm going to go for now tv instead of sky SmileSmile

I am going to make the call today while I'm feeling brave!

Also if anyone is interested they do a free pass for 14 days I think so I'm going to cancel my sky and try the free pass and if I don't like it I'm sure I can uncancel my sky Grin

And you can have up to 4 in the house under the same account for just the one payment... cheaper than multi room with sky

Thesmallthings · 02/01/2019 11:34

I love my now tv box. I got the free movie pass for Christmas,, I love you can chop and choose when you have it.

Thesmallthings · 02/01/2019 11:35

Though I got it for criminal minds.

Also Argos where doing 3 months entertainment and stick for 20

Firesuit · 02/01/2019 11:38

The main problem with Now TV is that it's lower resolution than Sky. If you watch on a small screen or don't care about picture quality it might be OK though.

(I haven't experienced it, but as I'm paying extra to get an upgrade from HD to UHD when possible, I'm not in the market for downgrading from 1080 line HD to 720 that I I think Now TV uses.)

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/01/2019 12:02

We pay £80 for a year of now tv, that's for both films and tv. It's set to renew around the time of Black Friday each year so usually get a deal. There might be a similar post-Xmas deal going now.

LadyChatterlysLoofah · 02/01/2019 12:11

You need the Entertainment Pass - enables watching Sky 1, Arts, Witness etc live, and then on catch up for iirc 30 days. Older episodes boxed sets offered several times a year, usually just hefore new series starts, with a clearly marked expiry date. The NowTV box often available for just £10, especially in the sales?, and including a code giving you two months pass for free. So you could try for free effectively! No interest in sports so no idea of that pass, but tried cinema pass and quickly stopped as severely underwhelmed by choice.

LadyChatterlysLoofah · 02/01/2019 12:13

Also one account can have 4 devices, so mine runs on 2 tvs, and via app on two tablets. Dunno why anyone wants full price Sky really....

seriouslylong · 03/01/2019 12:15

Thank you all for the advice! I bit the bullet and cancelled my sky last night 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I'm feeling proud SmileGrin

Top tip- call Sky and tell them you are leaving and they will offer you a huge discount to stay. DH calls them up every year before renewal using this tactic and gets the price slashed massively EVERY TIME!

Honeyroar · 03/01/2019 16:19

Have they actually said when Game of Thrones new season will air? I heard a rumour of March.

neddle · 03/01/2019 16:23

We saw a trailer yesterday that said April.

Honeyroar · 03/01/2019 16:25

Fabulous. I'd better start trying to remember what was going on.
