DS wanted a games console for Christmas. I decided not to get him one because of his age (6, turns 7 in April).

My ex did buy him a console. However it wasn't the console DS wanted. It was a different console, more suited to my ex and his interests.

DS spends 2 days a fortnight with ex and the console will stay there. When DS is not there ex will be using it and has some games of his own.

AIBU to think my ex actually bought himself a console for Christmas? He does have form for this kind of thing, which is why he's my ex.

Yes, he probably did. But if your DS spends two days a fortnight with his father, and can use the console then, I guess that in effect its still his console. I can see how this would irritate you, but really, a lot of people buy things for kids which they like to use themselves. He wouldn't be the first father to buy something like this. I wouldn't make a fuss about it.
