Can I claim a refund for buttons

Bought a nice down coat online and it has around 16 buttons in various positions.
I took the tags off and wore it once. All the buttons are hanging loose by a thread after one wearing.
Will I be able to enter a refund for poor quality do you think? The coat was £250 and it's not great, although I could sew all the buttons on tightly I cba frankly.....

If I really loved the coat, I’d keep and re-sew.

I don't love it that much tbh.

You can get a refund as it is faulty. If you don't want to sew the buttons back on them just return it and say "faulty" as the reason.

Definitely return, as long as you have receipt. It’s not fit for purpose.

It was bought online

Recipes aren't really an issue for a return like this. Your bank statement showing the charge legally counts as proof of purchase for returning a faulty item. You wouldn't be able to use that for a discretionary return in a shop if you've just changed your mind, but for a faulty item you don't need the reciept; just proof of payment.

I'd return it as faulty and ask for my money back. If it's coming apart after one wear, I wouldn't be confident of it remaining intact in the long term. It was expensive too.
