Would you be happy with this gift

We’ve had nothing but problems with my daughter and boys.
Now ex has given 15yo daughter male sportsman calendar where pretty much every month is him topless! I have a problem with this - my view is you wouldn’t give a female topless calendar to a 15yo boy so why is this ok!

Jaxtellerswife · 25/12/2018 12:51

Hmm I had take that calendars from age 12 and some of them were topless. I think it's fairly normal

ILoveMaxiBondi · 25/12/2018 12:52

I wouldn’t be happy with it for my 13 year old son (eitehr Male or female topless)

ADastardlyThing · 25/12/2018 12:58

I'd have loved that at 15

ADastardlyThing · 25/12/2018 13:00

In fact, from about 11 (?) my bedroom was covered wall to ceiling in topless take that pics, mostly bought by mum iirc she liked ogling them too I suspect

TheLittlestLightOnTheTree · 25/12/2018 13:00

It's fine

sweeneytoddsrazor · 25/12/2018 13:09

Don't kids still plaster their walls with posters? There is a difference between a topless man and a topless woman.

Aeroflotgirl · 25/12/2018 13:19

It is a very inappropriate gift from a parent, fine if a friend bought it from her, but her parent no.

Missingstreetlife · 25/12/2018 13:21

Is she a fan of the sport

elQuintoConyo · 25/12/2018 13:25

I had that Athena poster of (male) topless mechanic holding two giant tyres (not a euphemism). It was b/w so y'know "art" Wink but i don't think my parents battered an eyelash. Dsis had topless Peter Andre (nb: we are mid-40s), apart from the subject matter no one gave two hoots!

Men don't have tits, i am failing to see the problem.

MrsStrowman · 25/12/2018 13:26

This is not an issue, is this why Athena went under???

Whataboutbobbo · 25/12/2018 15:28

Pretty ok for 15

Whataboutbobbo · 25/12/2018 15:29

Loved Athena

FlamingoPoet · 25/12/2018 15:56

Umm having sex at fifteen is fairly normal, I’d think a topless calendar is relatively harmless (if a weird choice for a dad)

Meangirls36 · 25/12/2018 17:57

Off her father? Cringe! Its fine tho.

fourthusernamebutwhoscounting · 25/12/2018 17:59

Not pics of the dad topless then? I'd have some issues with that Grin

DayManChampionOfTheSun · 25/12/2018 18:00

Does your dd like the sports player? If so, he probably just saw the name on the calander and didn't think anything more about it

hughjackmanswife · 25/12/2018 18:11

I once bought a kylie calendar for my dad as a joke. Turned out every pic was her in neglige and it was very racy INDEED. It was a very awkward Xmas dinner that year.

BollockingBaubles · 25/12/2018 18:16

A woman's boobs are viewed very different to a mans. A man can mow the garden and potter about in the street bare chested, a woman doing the same would be treat very differently.

A bare chested man photo wouldn't be deleted from Facebook but a bare chested woman would because of nudity or something.

Are you sure Dad bought her it to objectify and lust after the sports bloke? Could it have been bought because he knows she likes him and bought it without thinking it would be an issue for you?

I had posters of take that topless on my wall too, pretty sure Mam bought me the Smash hits magazine they came from but doubt she'd my brother Big and Bouncy.

brizzledrizzle · 25/12/2018 18:30

It's not a gift I'd buy for any child of mine - I wouldn't buy a topless calendar of women for my son so I wouldn't buy one for my daughter either as it'd feel like double standards. I have a responsibility to bring them up to treat the opposite sex with respect and I don't think it'd be giving them the right message if I bought them a topless calendar.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 25/12/2018 19:27

Umm having sex at fifteen is fairly normal

I’m actually pretty horrified at that .... but agree that the calendar is probably fine although a little odd from a dad.

brizzledrizzle · 25/12/2018 19:30

Umm having sex at fifteen is fairly normal

I wouldn't see it as normal but at least with sex there is the chance that both people are treating each other with some respect, though I accept that it's certainly possible for their to be a lack of respect with sex with one partner pushing the other to have sex. I'd be pretty annoyed if any of mine had had sex at 15.

RebelWitchFace · 25/12/2018 19:33

From her dad? Cringe! What was her reaction to the gift?

CrispbuttyNo1 · 25/12/2018 19:33

Well if it’s Antony Joshua for example, he would be topless in every photo as that’s how he looks doing his sport.

Yabu.

elQuintoConyo · 25/12/2018 23:32

hello

Ah, Athena!

Georgiepeorgiepuddingandpie · 26/12/2018 04:48

Lol when I was 15 I'd have stuff like that all over my room! Is this for real? He's only bloody topless.
