I'm going to have to serve gravy in a measuring jug Sad

Anyone seen the film Kill List? I immediately thought of that Grin

Last minute panics eh?
I’ve just realised I’ve only got 16 cocktail blinis😳

isseywithcats · 24/12/2018 22:14

i always serve gravy from a measuring jug it holds more than a gravy jug

MammaSchwifty · 24/12/2018 22:15

Is there another way to serve gravy?

LakieLady · 24/12/2018 22:17

I found out yesterday that for some reason we have 3 gravy jugs.

If you're in East Sussex, pm me if you'd like one of my spare ones.

SabineUndine · 24/12/2018 22:18

YABU to call it a gravy jug. They're gravy boats.

Xmas Grin
AnneLovesGilbert · 24/12/2018 22:20

YANBU. I bloody love my gravy boat. I remember feeling like I was finally a grown up when I got it.

chopchopchill · 24/12/2018 22:20

Ha @LakieLady that's a very kind offer! I'm in Kent so just next door but probably too far Grin

I feel genuinely quite embarrassed Blush

This happened to us one year - not very glam but we used our massive sports direct mug as a substitute!! Not very festive but did the job Grin

wombatron · 24/12/2018 22:28

I forgot the crackers. As in the table crackers. Sad

Normalnorman · 24/12/2018 22:32

"I'm going to have to serve gravy in a measuring jug"

That's what I do all the time it's either plastic measuring jug or standard coffee mug. How attached can you get to gravy mugs?? Confused

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 25/12/2018 00:50

This will ruin Christmas for everybody and irreparably traumatise all children present for the entire remainder of their lives.

cleanhousewastedlife · 25/12/2018 10:57

Yes, chop, Christmas is ruined! Xmas Grin

Coolaschmoola · 25/12/2018 10:59

Use the teapot - say it's because the lid keeps it hotter for longer. If you must, say you saw it on Mary Berry/Kirstie Allsop and it's the new thing.

PristineCondition · 25/12/2018 11:03

I served in a saucepan with a spouty bit one year. I was out of dishes and patience Xmas Grin

MacavityTheDentistsCat · 25/12/2018 11:05

I've just wrecked our very expensive plates (a wedding gift) by putting them in the microwave to warm them up. Completely forgot that the gold trim is real Xmas Sad. There were immediate fireworks. DH now looks like this -> Xmas Angry.

Heuschrecke · 25/12/2018 11:24

chopchop, don't be embarrassed. My parents always had gravy boats (boat shape), however I have a gravy jug - because it's jug shaped!

MrTumblesSpottyHag · 25/12/2018 11:28

We can't find the camping table in the garage so half the family may need to eat lunch off their knees.

110818baby · 25/12/2018 11:28

I have seen kill list but I don't get the reference?

Hezz · 25/12/2018 11:55

Am I the only person who doesn't like gravy?

Travisandthemonkey · 25/12/2018 14:10

@Hezz
Yes in the whole of the U.K.

IHaveBrilloHair · 25/12/2018 14:11

I have a beeyootiful Denby gravy boat, I'd actually cry if I broke it.

EKGEMS · 25/12/2018 14:18

Last night I broke a salad plate while decorating cookies. Thankfully Replacementslimited.com has a shit load of china patterns available including gravy boats FYI My plate replacement cost was very reasonable

treacledan71 · 25/12/2018 14:27

I am only cooking for 3 this year but still forgot to get roasties out of top oven! we had them at end! was more organised when cooked for more

chopchopchill · 25/12/2018 23:27

There's that really tense dinner party where the hosting couple argue cos he says to his wife "you spent all this time making a lovely meal then you ruin it by serving the sauce in a fucking measuring jug". Or something like that.
