Don't know what to do!

Posted here for traffic, sorry. Need advice asap.

Long story short - I just moved into a property a couple of days ago. It was a very last minute move that needed to happen for various reasons. We've a smart meter (PAYG) for the gas and electric. I topped up on the cards that were left here when I first arrived, but I came home earlier and all my electric was off. I phoned British Gas who said the old tenants gave their new details today and now my supply is gone and they need to send out new cards.

They said (at 12 o clock today) they would send me reference numbers through so I can top up without the cards. They never did. I rang a further 3 times and was told that they haven't processed my details yet. On the last call at 4pm, I was told I'd have them within 5 minutes. Never happened.

I've now just got a few pence left on the meter, and Christmas won't be happening tomorrow without these codes. I've got the money waiting, but there's no way of me topping up!

Should've done it sooner I know, but moving literally just before Christmas I thought it'd be fine to use the cards that were here until after.

Can anyone give me any advice at all please? I'm not even sure if British Gas will be open to send me the codes tomorrow :(

They must have some departments open, they have to respond in gas emergencies. Just keep chasing them.

Can you press the emergency button and get the £5 credit ?
Sorry I don’t know how to help

Live chat is open now on their website. Just speak to an agent on there, they should be able to sort it.

It's on the last of the emergency now 😩 I actually put £30 on each a couple of days ago but it's all gone because the tenants changed their details today. Stressed beyond belief lol

Hope for a swift resolution 💐

You may need to Google and clarify but I'm pretty sure most companies have a thing where the emergency doesn't run out during certain hours of the night and bank holidays. I can't remember all the details but it's worth looking into at least. Hope that makes sense

There should be a non disconnection period which should hopefully last until after the bank hols. If your power goes off call them and tell them there are young children or someone with a disability if there is and they should send out and engineer to reconnect you.

If they can take it off they can put it on
