To think vodka shots at home are unacceptable?

Me and my friends think so! DH thinks it's fine... both DDs have bought shot glasses and 40% vodka!!! Planning on having shots tonight, isn't that something you really don't do at home?

Why not?

I thought 40% for vodka was quite standard. Put the shot glasses in the freezer before using though. Lovely.

selepele · 24/12/2018 17:27

The thought of that made me cringe who even has vodka shots period

hidinginthenightgarden · 24/12/2018 17:27

If it’s a bit of a get together then I see no harm.
Just him (even with you) then yes that weird.

lilliem · 24/12/2018 17:29

DH won't be having them. Both DDs will and it's only them... I think it's very bizarre!

TheLittlestLightOnTheTree · 24/12/2018 17:30

Can't you do what you like in your own home.....who says it's unnacceptable, who sets the bar?

Jackshouse · 24/12/2018 17:31

Why is it acceptable to do it out and about but not at home?

LuluBellaBlue · 24/12/2018 17:31

How old are DD’s? Perfectly
Normal for them to experiment with alcohol (depending on age) and if you drink at home at all - any type of alcohol, then you’re being very hypocritical

lilliem · 24/12/2018 17:31

I suppose I was just asking in general Grin

AmIthatbloodycold · 24/12/2018 17:32

What do you think is unacceptable about it?

Sparklesocks · 24/12/2018 17:32

At Xmas i think it’s often likely things descend..!

GooodMythicalMorning · 24/12/2018 17:32

Its fine!

masterandmargarita · 24/12/2018 17:32

Why not?

Fairylea · 24/12/2018 17:34

Well we don’t drink alcohol at all but if you’re drinking what difference does it make whether it’s a shot or something else? Confused

blueskiesandforests · 24/12/2018 17:34

Unacceptable? That's an odd word? Is it some sort of celebration/ party thing?

Unacceptable on your own on a random Tuesday morning whilst looking after toddlers - absolutely.

Unacceptable once in a blue moon with a friend or sister you get on with, as part of a celebration or party or get together evening among adults - no.

Perhaps your DDs enjoy one another's company and have been apart with one at university or working and living elsewhere? If so it's quite sweet!

Then again perhaps they find big family gatherings excruciating and need strong alcohol to get through them... That's a bit of a worry, using alcohol as a crutch...

Possumfish · 24/12/2018 17:35

It's very normal! Especially at that age! Me and my friends often did it. And on occasion still do (we are all 35+ now). A cold shot glass and some good vodka! Bliss

MrsStrowman · 24/12/2018 17:36

Completely normal at that age, my DB gave our DF a Jaeger bomb one Christmas, told him it was a festive cocktail 😂

GreyGardens88 · 24/12/2018 17:39

Would you prefer they were in a bar? Just leave them to have their fun whilst they are young

easyandy101 · 24/12/2018 17:40

Poland?

OneStepMoreFun · 24/12/2018 17:40

If you mean a single vodka shot each because that's what they fancy, YABU. If you mean lining up five in a row to get legless on Christas Eve while your mum skivvies to get everything ready no, YANBU.

lilliem · 24/12/2018 17:43

And no, I mean lining them up. They have planned to take a vodka shot and then an orange shot. I've asked how many they think they'll be having and get a "I don't know Mum"

People without a stick in their crack?

CoughLaughFart · 24/12/2018 17:45

I’m surprised you didn’t get a ‘I’m over 18; what’s it to you?’

AnyFucker · 24/12/2018 17:46

Right this minute I am doing shots of Polish raspberry vodka. Bloody delicious.

NoseyParker11 · 24/12/2018 17:46

They’re not really ‘shots’. It’s how you drink decent vodka. If it is decent vodka...

Must be as cold as possible though. Put the vodka in the freezer.

Having said that, not too many!
