If you live in a windmill it’s definitely a mouse with clogs on.
If not it could be the heating causing the wood to creak.
Or your house doesn’t like the area and is planning on moving somewhere else.

There's natural movement in buildings.

Like your gate will swell in damp weather etc (to put it simply).

Some houses are more noisy than others.

When you think about the pipework going underneath and through the walls, there's a lot going on, besides the natural stuff.

OK I didn't get the joke. Its panic time, my house is a midden and now I've got people coming for Christmas because they've been let down, elsewhere.

It could be a mouse is going clip-clippity-clop on your stairs.

But more likely it's things expanding and contracting with changes in temperature.
