Flip side - I hate the elves, no offence to you. I know a few parents that's children ask why they don't have an elf visit etc and they have ended up having to go out and buy one because of the fact everyone else does it. She could be in a similar place so thought fuck it, rather than inconvenience myself I'll make this difficult. Which is a shame really but some people are like that.

She could have been better about it as your child is likely to now ask questions. But if she dislikes the elves and doesn't want to do them then she might just get annoyed by it?
I'd tell your DC that you have to help Santa give the elf a wage or something and that's what she meant and she wouldn't know because she has never really spoken to Santa about it. The wage can be extra cookies on the plate on Xmas eve to say thanks to the elf for their work?

My DD is still young so I don’t have to watch what I say around her but I’m constantly worried about saying the wrong thing around DSD. I nearly spoilt the tooth fairy once.

Your SILs reply is less harsh that the little beauty I’ve got tucked up my sleeve if the question ever comes up.

We don’t have an elf because they only go to the houses of badly behaved children Grin

@gimmieadoughnut123

Yeah tbh the elves are a pain I wasnt going to start but he had one at nursery last year and knew all about it then. I dont really do anything with it and they do love it.

I guess some people hust have no odea about all this new "stuff" i didnt even think about excuses for other people not having one.

Some people have different stories for the presents all being delivered by santa but santa just brings us 1 present. Its makes things so confusing now he is getting older and asking questions.

User149 oh gosh Ive not even thought about the tooth fairy yet. This year has been harder now hes more aware of things.
