To go to MIU or ED

I have a very very painful skin abscess at the top of my leg. I've been on antibiotics since Thursday when I went to GP. They don't appear to have made a difference and stopped this thing progressing and I now NEED to take painkillers (thinking I might buy some co codamol and see if they're any good). The abscess now has an extra point on it and a head (did I say how much it hurts?). Should I hang on in there for longer, wait for it to burst or go and find someone qualified to drain the damn thing? Would my local nurse led MIU be able to deal with this or do I need to go to a proper ED for a doctor? The original plan had been to phone GPs on Monday if it hadn't improved on its own with the antibiotics.

I think a walk in GP clinic/local OOH GP. My local Minor injuries wouldn’t deal with abscesses
